CHICAGO (STMW) – Four people were killed and at least 13 others have been wounded in shootings since Friday evening in Chicago.
The most recent fatal shooting happened Sunday morning on the Near West Side.
Shawn Holloway, 21, was shot in the side and back about 11 a.m. in the 2100 block of West Warren Boulevard, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Holloway, of the 3000 block of West Walnut, then walked into Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:10 p.m., authorities said.
A police source said he was a documented gang member and that the shooting may have been a drive-by attack
Saturday evening, a man was found shot to death in the Washington Heights neighborhood on the South Side.
Officers responding to a call of a shots fired about 6:50 p.m. in the 9600 block of South Green Street found 18-year-old Bernard Pippen lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the neck, authorities said.
Pippen, of the 11000 block of South State, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:10 p.m., authorities said. Police said “persons of interest” were being questioned in connection with the shooting.
Earlier Saturday, a 24-year-old man was shot to death in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.
About 12:45 p.m., Cornelius Hunter was in a vehicle in the 1200 block of South Pulaski when occupants of another vehicle fired shots in his direction, authorities said. He was shot in the chest and leg, crashed his vehicle, then walked into a nearby business where someone called authorities, police said.
Hunter, of the 1700 block of North Luna, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:26 p.m., authorities said.
Friday evening, a 17-year-old boy was shot to death in the Gage Park neighborhood on the South Side.
Walter L. Wright was in the 5800 block of South Western about 7:30 p.m. when a gunman walked up and shot him in the chest, according to police and the medical examiner’s office.
Wright, of the 5300 block of South May, was taken to Mount Sinai, where he was pronounced dead at 8:09 p.m., authorities said.
The most recent nonfatal shooting happened Sunday night in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.
A man, 23, was standing outside about 8:15 p.m. in the 800 block of South Albany when a green SUV drove by and someone inside opened fire, police said. He was shot in the heel and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized.
At least 12 other people have been wounded in separate shootings since 7:25 p.m. Friday.
