Another Gun Confiscation Bill Introduced in Senate

Congress and Barack Obama just cannot keep their eyes off of Americans' guns. Though they are allowing and open invasion of the United States via the southern border, something they should be dealing with according to law, they are unconstitutionally focusing on more violations of the Second Amendment. This week, the new gun confiscation bill introduced in the Senate on Tuesday claims to be aimed at removing guns from domestic abusers, but since no authority was given to the federal government to restrict or regulate arms, it is unconstitutional on its face.

Guns.com reports:
The bill, termed the Domestic Violence Gun Homicide Prevention Act of 2014, is cosponsored by Sens. Murphy, Schatz, Gillibrand, Kaine, Levin, Durbin, and Warren, all Senate Dems with a long history of supporting pro-gun control measures. The legislation would institute and fund a series of grants, administered by the Director of the Office of Community Policing Services of the Department of Justice. These grants would be distributed to states who have domestic violence gun prohibitions and enforce regulations that include the seizure of firearms in cases of domestic abuse.

The announcement of the legislation comes just a day before a scheduled appearance on Capitol Hill by a group of domestic violence survivors and gun control advocates from Michael Bloomberg's Everytown for Gun Safety. These speakers will testify in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee on the subject of closing what they term "loopholes in federal law that allow dangerous abusers and stalkers to buy and keep guns."

Two of the co-sponsors of the bill unveiled Tuesday, Blumenthal and Durbin, sit on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Everytown has been vocal in recent months on the subject of gun control and domestic violence. In June, the group released a 36-page study in which they contend that some 41 states do not require domestic abusers to relinquish guns and federal law does not keep guns out of the hands of abusive dating partners or convicted stalkers. The study further states that when a gun is present in a violence situation, it increases the risk of homicide for women by 500 percent.

This week Everytown launched a series of graphic ads on cable and network stations to air in Washington, D.C., New Hampshire, Arizona and Nevada. In the 30-second spots, a woman is confronted by what is portrayed as an armed, estranged ex who breaks into her home despite calls to 911 for help. These ads, aimed directly at three Republican senators — including one on the Senate Judiciary Committee — publicly challenge the lawmakers to help expand current laws to prohibit gun possession by domestic abusers.

The National Rifle Association weighed in on the ads on Tuesday. The NRAILA provided the following statement:
Bloomberg's new anti-gun Organization Everytown is out with a new advertisement that inadvertently proves why women should be trained and armed before being faced with a violent attacker.

The new ad shows an unarmed woman with her child alone in her home when her violent ex-husband shows up at the door in a violent rage. She calls 911, but because when seconds count the police are minutes away, that phone call didn't matter. The ex-husband breaks down the door, takes the kid and pulls a gun on the woman. All of this could have been prevented if the woman had a firearm in her possession as soon as she saw her ex-husband pounding on the door.
Perhaps the NRA was thinking of something like this:

Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) said he was "proud" to introduce the legislation and said it was "commonsense legislation."
A common sense approach would be to not violate the Second Amendment Senator Kaine. Part of what the Senator is not telling you is that many of these women stay in these relationships and due to the fact that they would want to remove the gun from an abuser (when what he really needs is for the men in his neighborhood to give him a good man to man beatdown to teach him a lesson), they would also create a situation in which the woman could not be armed in the same house.
According to the Roanoke Free Press, "The bill would grant incentives to states that match or exceed current federal domestic violence gun prohibitions and enforce these vital gun protection laws by seizing firearms when adjudicating or responding to domestic violence situations."

Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) said the legislation is important because it "provides the resources necessary to protect survivors of domestic abuse and remove guns from dangerous situations where lives are literally on the line."

Again, the Constitution is important because it says the federal government is not to infringe on the right to keep and bear arms. These Democrats are openly violating the law, and attempting to pass it off as caring about those involved in domestic abuse. They are using the same emotional tactics on guns that they are employing on the illegal alien situation.
