EL PASO -- A Juárez police sergeant was shot and killed shortly before 3 a.m. Wednesday in a roadway ambush on Avenida Panamericana near Calle Teofilo Borunda in Juárez, Chihuahua state police said.

Francisco Ventura Barrientos, 37, was wearing his municipal police uniform when he was shot multiple times while driving a white 1989 Dodge Ram pickup with Texas plates.

Unconfirmed reports stated that the shooters, including another police officer, were captured by Mexican federal police. More than a dozen police officers have been killed in Juárez this year, apparently due to a drug cartel war.

Earlier this week, federal police arrested a Juárez police officer accused of leading a hit squad.

I am beginning to wonder bout one little detail ! Do the Cops "Ever" kill one of the attackers ? Seems like the Cartels are batting like an unheard of 7000 to 0 ratio .
