Well, I had seen ratings for the movie and they were high. But as noted in this first video, the biggest popularity is was with Black People, because of association. This is to be expected. It is just like most Black People voted for Obama, because he, like them was Black. I'm sure BET has a much higher Black audience than White viewers. This is the nature of things.

Of course there have been other major movies with Black leads. "I, Robot" starred Will Smith. His role was not of a Black Man, so it had universal appeal. There have been many others. But this was primarily centered on Black characters.

In television there have been historic Black lead shows like Cosby. I think that show was successful because the characters were not written as ethnic Black. they were everyday people. Today we have show like Black-ish which portray more Black issues while looking at them in a comedic manner. I enjoy that show although some of the story-lines get too leftist or Blackish!

This video surprised me. I was expecting more praise. With this review in mind, I would be watching the movie more critically , looking for the instances he pointed out.

But the movie isn't what I expected from the title. Being cheap, I won't see it until it is out on cable.

I don't know if I can accept that black people were the majority by much, but the press reported their numbers:

While Disney will definitely recoup Ryan Coogler’s $200 million budget (plus $150 million spent on publicity) for “Black Panther,” the company will also benefit from its gamble on a predominantly black cast, which the broader motion picture industry has historically shied away from and global audiences have rarely supported. In the U.S., opening weekend ticket sales were largely attributed to diverse audiences: 37 percent of moviegoers were African American, followed by 35 percent white, and 18 percent Hispanic. Contrary to beliefs about black films, “Black Panther” has been well received and quite profitable overseas too, with openings still scheduled abroad.

I am pleasantly pessimistic when I heard the media throw out numbers but... I really don't know.

I thought the CGI was a little overused but it's not a documentary and it is forgivable because all comic book movies need CGI
to bring out the "super" in superhero. Anyone can punch a man, but when he's punched by the Hulk, gravity's pull on a man's body just stops working!
    I need to see that!

The Jack Johnson and The Black Panther Connection

The more things change, the more they stay the same. The English translation of the French idiom:Plus ça change plus c'est la même chose.
The more I see different people giving their reviews of the latest Marvel Film, Black Panther, I can't help but notice a constant theme or trope, if
you will, that conspicuously reminds me of Jack Johnson's victory over James Jeffries on July 4, 1910 in Reno, Nevada.

My theory needs to allow a little bit of extrapolation of a pair of words that I noticed in the comment section of a YouTube viewer of the review of the movie.
The pair of words, used by many writers in the media, Hunter Avallone's review along with Ben Shapiro's review: "fictional country". The usage of the words, "fictional country" reflects the obvious but also there is another meaning born from a nefarious motive.

I know the far left, liberal, Los Angeles Times wouldn't stand by their review of the Jack Johnson fight today and I think they would think that their 109
year old column "A Word To The Black Man" is a relic of years gone by. But you really have to honestly ask yourself, "Is that article really a relic of the past?"

Fast forward the video to exactly 1:39:00 and you will hear the Los Angeles Times' article "A Word To The Black Man" narration.

The purpose of reminding the listeners that Wakanda is a "fictional country" proceeds from the same spirit of that Los Angeles Times article.

Logically speaking, I don't know of any person that went to see the movie and actually thinks that Wakanda is real.
If a person didn't know that Wakanda isn't real, there's a fix for that and it's called "the internet". We all carry around in our pockets,
the whole of human knowledge and it comes with an ergonomic organization interface called a web page with search capabilities.

But the bark of the hounds of double entendre cannot be silenced.
I believe that the hip and cool politicians call this phenomenon, "dog whistling". If black people like it or if it's uplifting for them,
someone has to quiet the party like Mr. Cooper in "Malcolm X". To be fair, Malcolm should have been working instead of listening to the radio.
Side note: why do people listening to the radio have to face the radio? If you turn it up you can hear it across the room.
    But I digress...

Here's the funny scene of Mr. Cooper.
Side note: the pie-to-the-face is my personality. I would have done the same thing

Now that we know that the use of the words "fictional country" isn't a logical assertion to a fictional movie, correct me if I'm wrong, but did you hear any people reviewing the Thor movie constantly say that Asgard was a fictional place? Did we have to be told that Stark Industries is a fictional defense and tech company? What about Green Lantern's planet. Did you think Darth Vader might be real?

Yelling about Wakanda being a "fictional country", I believe, is a direct descendant of "A Word To The Black Man".
It's usage is slick and polished, and more importantly, a plausible denial solution of what really motivates the feelings in the first place.
