Bernie Sanders: Socialist and liar… but I repeat myself

Isn’t it hilarious when avowed socialist, Sen. Bernie Sanders, (I-VT), forgets that he no longer lives the glory days when there were only six or eight major media outlets, and they all provided lie-with-impunity passes to lefties like him?

Of course there is no such thing today, which is why he and his comrades detest Rush Limbaugh and Fox News. But he still has to lie. He has no choice, because, face it, he can’t exactly tell the American people that he thinks they’re too stupid to handle their own money, and that he's trying to trick them into giving Washington the power to confiscate it so that he and his more highly-evolved colleagues can allocate it where they see fit.

That’s socialism in a nutshell, but he needs to keep that covered up, so he goes on TV and says Republicans want to “balance the budget on the backs of the elderly, the poor, and the sick," and things like that.

Kinda weak, huh? I must say I was expecting a little more, especially with Senator Sanders hailing from a region where shameless demagoguery has surely achieved the status of folk literature by now. If I was a commie-lib in Vermont, I would be so embarrassed by his lack of imagination that I would pretend that he wasn’t even my commie-lib representative any more.

And then as if we needed more evidence that he wasn’t exactly on the top of his game, he swiped President Obama’s script and parroted his sinister, Orwellian euphemism for the confiscation of private property: “shared sacrifice.”
"It's millions of people saying, Mr. President, we voted for you because you told us you were going to defend working Americans. Now is the time to stand up to the big-money interests, ask for shared sacrifice…”
How original. Incidentally, that reminds me of something Winston Churchill once said:
The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.
I think I’m starting to understand why Churchill was banished from the Oval Office, but I digress. Anyway, Sanders continued:
I would like to see a couple of hundred thousand people come here to Washington, say hello to the president, say hello to the Republicans, say do not balance the budget on the middle class, the working families in this country, when the richest people are getting richer. They have not contributed one nickel to deficit reduction."
Okay, Sanders might get low marks for initiative, but he can still lie a blue streak. In fact you'd almost think he believes the 1970s left-wing embargo on information still exists, and no one would expose his deceit by pointing out that the top 50% of wage earners provide 97% of the revenue to Washington, and the bottom 50% provide 3% of the revenue.

In fact, the top 1% shoulder 38% of the entire load! How many nickels does that work out to, Mr. Sanders?

I suppose this means that Sanders only frets about the beleaguered backs of the “elderly, poor, and sick,” and wealthy. Because there’s a pretty high likelihood that those merely “elderly, poor, and sick” don’t even pony up enough to pay for the government services that they personally use. Which is revealing, because it means that our tax system is a lot more charitable than Sanders finds it expedient for us to know.

So that makes Sanders a liar, whose socialist credentials don’t represent the pious concern for the poor and downtrodden that he’s always yammering about, but an entrenched ideologically-based compulsion to lord it over the rest of us.

The problem isn’t that he doesn’t agree with Ronald Reagan’s observation that “A government can't control the economy without controlling people.” The problem is that he agrees wholeheartedly, and he’s all for it.

On Cenk Uygur's MSNBC show this evening, Bernie Sanders, the socialist senator from Vermont who caucuses with the Dems, claimed that rich Americans "have not contributed one nickel to deficit reduction."

Cenk of course failed to challenge Sander's certifiably silly assertion.

Watch Bernie defy reality, and consider that in the last analyzed year, the top 1% paid . . . 38% of all federal income taxes.

CENK UYGUR: How are you going to rally progressives? I'm not putting it all on you. I know you're a great progressive. How do you . . . how do we get the president on our side?

BERNIE SANDERS: It's millions of people saying, Mr. President, we voted for you because you told us you were going to defend working Americans. Now is the time to stand up to the big-money interests, ask for shared sacrifice, don't balance the budget on the backs of the elderly, the poor and the sick. If you do that, you're going to have tremendous popular support.
