China to slap 25% tariffs on $50 bln worth of US goods

China will impose additional 25 percent tariffs on 659 US goods worth $50 billion in response to the US' plan to levy tariffs on Chinese imports. The Chinese commerce ministry announced tariffs on $34 billion of US goods including agricultural products like soybeans, which will take effect from July 6. Soybeans are China's biggest import from the United States by value. The tariffs will also be applied to autos and aquatic products. US President Donald Trump announced 25 percent tariffs on $50 billion of Chinese imports on Friday, in a move that looks set to ignite a trade war between the world's two largest economies. Original

Our farmers need to focus more on foods Americans want to buy. We import hundreds of billions of dollars of foreign grown and processed foods because our farmers refuse to diversify and grow them for us. I realize not all can do that, but most can and we would reward both the farmers and processors wiith great profits.

Also pass the FairTax and free our farmers of all federal income tax on their workers and profits. That would encourage them to innovate and diversify. It would go far to save the family farm for future generations of Americans.

While our farmers and producers will feel the pinch, the people of China are the ones who will pay the price for jacked-up prices, not Americans. I think China will soon realize they are the losers!

Hey Mr. President, don't be an income tax addict, shun the shiot, get smart, push the FairTax, HR 25 in the US House of Representatives for .... 19 years, while the US lost tens of thousands of factories, got our butts kicked and coffers drained by $800 billion a year in trade in goods deficits, that not only put our citizens in the poor house, but passed $22 trillion and growing in debt on their kids .... and grand-kids and .... great grand-kids ..... and great great grand-kids.

Did you see the latest on Steve Hilton's "Revolution" on Fox News? Yeah, he's attacking Wilbur Ross for his work on China with the tariffs who is trying to help you help US fix our trade deficits with China. Hilton's just another Wack-O-Doodle European from the UK who hasn't been in our country long enough to understand the American Economic System. You need to call in to Fox and Friends about that, Mr. President.

See, Mr. President, trying to balance the trade deficits at this point with just tariffs isn't going to work, Mr. President, you need the FairTax in addition to the tariffs and new trade deals. The deficits are too large to correct with individual country tariffs. It has to be balanced by a domestic consumption tax, that's the only way the math will every get ahead of it.

Are you referring to a Constitutional Amendment, Johnwk? Really, a Constitutional Amendment. You expect 38 states to ratify a Constitutional Amendment that forces them to fund the federal government out of state revenue?

Out of state revenue? There you go again, misrepresenting the Fair Share Balanced Budget Amendment which, unlike the alleged fairtax, would end Congress laying and collecting taxes calculated from profits, gains, wages and other lawfully earned incomes. You really expect the American people to trust Congress to do that under the alleged fairtax?

Why would you want protection in the Constitution? You hate the FairTax because you're too lazy or incompetent to file a 4 simple number report and handover the FairTax you collected once a month on your plumbing moonlighting and your wife's house cleaning and day care services.
