Communist Statues in the USA

Did you know that there is a bust of former Soviet dictator Josef Stalin in Bedford, Virginia? The bust is part of a dedication
to the D-Day Landings that happened on the coast of France on June 6, 1944. Since this memorial is dedicated to the men and leaders who planned the D-Day invasion against the Nazis, then why is Stalin’s statue there? He did not plan or have anything to do with the D-Day attack. If anything, he was one of the architects along with Adolf Hitler in starting the war in Europe in 1939. Plus, Stalin is guilty of murdering 20-25 million Russians (not including 7 million Ukrainians) during his rule. Why on earth are we honoring this monster?
Did you also know that there are three statues to Lenin in the United States? There is one in Atlantic City, New Jersey; New York City, and Seattle, Washington state. Even if these were meant as a joke, they are a BAD joke. Lenin created the first Communist state, and is responsible for the death of at least 5 million people. He is the one who created the secret police called the Cheka—which would later evolve into the infamous NKVD under Stalin and then into the KGB. Why on earth do we have statues to this person? He played no part in American history, and any statues of him, whether intentional or not, are still honoring him. Vladimir Lenin created the model that all Communist states have followed, and his creation still haunts all democratic nations.
At a time when there are politicians and state governments ready and willing to take down statues and monuments honoring Confederate personnel, no one seems interested in taking down statues to two of the most brutal and bloody dictators that has ever haunted the planet. Maybe it is time that we should consider this.

5 LENIN STATUES THAT MAKE YOU WONDER ‘WHY?’
BY BERENT BATUR
SEPTEMBER 1, 2015
LENIN’S CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY DO NOT SEEM TO HAVE DISQUALIFIED HIM FROM BEING CAST IN BRONZE AS SOME GREAT MAN OF HISTORYIT IS THE VICTIMS OF COMMUNISM WHO SHOULD BE MEMORIALIZED AND REMEMBERED, NOT THE REVOLUTIONARIES WHO KILLED THEM
All around North America there are statues and monuments dedicated to heroes of freedom and democracy—Washington, Lincoln, and Jefferson, for instance, adorn the capitol city of Washington, D.C., and dozens of towns around the country. But North America also hosts a number of statues of Vladimir Lenin.
Lenin’s communist regime led to the death of millions due to famine, war, and mass executions. Under Lenin’s leadership, the Soviet Union was created as one-party communist state that relied on terrorizing and murdering its own people. Political dissidents were persecuted or killed outright, and all industry was forcibly nationalized. Lenin’s crimes against humanity do not seem to have disqualified him from being cast in bronze as some Great Man of history, however. Such historical revisionism might at this point be expected in Russia, but for Lenin statues to stand in the U.S. and Canada would seem to be an offense against common sense. They are not figures of our own history, after all.
It is the victims of history’s most deadly ideology—communism—who should be memorialized and remembered, not the revolutionaries who killed them.
Furthermore, these statues contribute to the dangerous idea that communism has “come and gone,” and that any harm it caused is incidental to its practitioners’ intentions. Lenin’s legacy is still very much with us, and the shadow of the deadly ideology that he for the first time made politically viable looms large over contemporary politics in Russia and the world.
1.THE FREMONT NEIGHBORHOOD OF SEATTLE
This seven-ton bronze statue of Lenin is in the heart of the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle and was brought over from Slovakia. This statue is considered a tourist destination for the neighborhood, and is seen by some as a piece of art rather than a political monument.
2.RED SQUARE APARTMENT BUILDING IN NEW YORK CITY
This statue of Lenin waving to the New York City’s East Village was put atop the luxury Red Square Apartment in 1994 by Yuri Gerasimov. Coupled with the Lenin statue is the incorrectly numbered “Askew” clock. Perhaps, this was done to show how backwards Lenin’s regime was, no?
3.TROPICANA CASINO IN ATLANTIC CITY
Right outside of the restaurant, Red Square restaurant stands a 15-foot tall statue of Lenin. This “trendy” Russian themed restaurant is located inside the Tropicana Casino. Red Square GM Joe Masauri stated that "it's part of the culture of Russia: Lenin, communism, vodka."
4.MANDALAY BAY HOTEL IN LAS VEGAS
Inside the Mandaly Bay Hotel there is the Red Square vodka bar where this headless statue of Lenin stands. The statue’s head is frozen inside a block of ice within Red Square’s walk-in freezer, and viewable to those who purchase expensive drinks or ask for a peek.
5.LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
This stainless steel sculpture of Lenin with a small “Miss Mao” balancing on his head is located outside of the Ace Gallery, in one of LA’s premier shopping strips. The sculpture, names “Miss Mao trying to pose herself at the top of Lenin’s head,” was created by the Gao Brothers to show how Lenin influenced Mao’s Cultural Revolution.
