I believe these used to be called "recess" and "physical education", which sadly have been eliminated from most U.S. schools sytems now. This seems to be because schools are now required to provide so many things which parents used to do, and, dare one say it, because liberal policy makers, who place so much emphasis on intellectual skills and who have such overwhelming influence in the country now, tend to look down upon the value of "physical activity" until it actually threatens the national health?
