For weeks infectious disease experts told the public monkeypox is largely transmitted by skin-to-skin contact.
However, health experts now believe monkeypox is spread through anal and oral sex between men.
NBC reported:

Since the outset of the global monkeypox outbreak in May, public health and infectious disease experts have told the public that the virus is largely transmitting through skin-to-skin contact, in particular during sex between men.
Now, however, an expanding cadre of experts has come to believe that sex between men itself — both anal as well as oral intercourse — is likely the main driver of global monkeypox transmission. The skin contact that comes with sex, these experts say, is probably much less of a risk factor.

In recent weeks, a growing body of scientific evidence — including a trio of studies published in peer-reviewed journals, as well as reports from national, regional and global health authorities — has suggested that experts may have framed monkeypox’s typical transmission route precisely backward.

On Tuesday ABC reported that an eight children were infected with the monkeypox including an infant child under the age of 2.

At least eight children in the U.S. have now tested positive for monkeypox, after health officials in Harris County, Texas, confirmed to ABC News that a presumptive case had been identified in a child under the age of 2.
Officials reported the child has been completely asymptomatic, according to the child’s parents, with no other symptoms other than a residual rash. The child is expected to make a full recovery, and is doing “very, very well,” Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said during a press conference on Tuesday.
“I understand that it’s a very scary thing, and parents have concerns, and what we need to make sure is to be vigilant and understand the risks, not assume the worst. But this reminds us that this is very real,” Hidalgo said.
The family has also been fully cooperative, and is assisting with contact tracing, though the child has not been in any day care or school settings. Thus far, no one else in the child’s circle has been identified as positive for monkeypox, according to officials.

China has just confirmed its first case on monkeypox, and has an 'unusual' public health warning for its citizens (who remain in and out of ZeroCOVID lockdowns anyway): Don't touch foreigners!

"To prevent possible monkeypox infection and as part of our healthy lifestyle, it is recommended that 1) you do not have direct skin-to-skin contact with foreigners," Wu Zunyou, chief epidemiologist at the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention posted on his official Weibo page on Saturday.

Wu proudly proclaimed that the country's COVID restrictions and tight border controls had thus far prevented the spread of monkeypox, until a case "slipped through the net."


That case was detected in the southwest municipality of Chongqing. CNN reports that an "international arrival" was under mandatory Covid-19 quarantine when the infection was discovered, according to local authorities.
Reuters reports that the infected person was a 29-year-old Chinese national who flew to Chongqing on Sept. 14 from Spain, the Center for Disease Control said later.

While some were open to Wu’s advice, others found it inflammatory and discriminative.

“It’s good to open the country’s door, but we can’t just let everything in,” one Weibo user wrote.

Several drew parallels to the wave of xenophobia and violence Asians overseas faced at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic... and don't call it "Wuhan Flu"!

“This is a bit like when the pandemic began when some people overseas avoided any Chinese people they saw out of fear,” a Weibo user wrote.
“I don’t believe these two things have any scientific basis, they are too broad and will exacerbate public panic.”

Where is the uproar from global progressives proclaiming this warning as disgustingly bigoted, xenophobic, racist, and homophobic?

Chinese experts say it's unlikely monkeypox will wreak such chaos, with state media Global Times reporting on Friday the disease "poses little threat," citing a hospital director.
However, they have also urged continued vigilance, with some experts highlighting the need for "strict surveillance" and countermeasures, according to Global Times.

(Natural News) A cluster of monkeypox cases has emerged in Chicago just as the World Health Organization (WHO) is declaring the health emergency over.
A dozen confirmed cases and one probable case of monkeypox were reported in the nation’s third-biggest city in the period from April 17 to May 5. In all of these cases, the virus was spread through sexual contact. Nine of the infections were noted in men who were fully vaccinated against the virus.
Although none of the infected individuals were hospitalized, the city is nevertheless warning of a “resurgence” of monkeypox. The illness grabbed a lot of headlines last year when it started spreading rapidly among gay and bisexual men in Europe and the U.S.; its rise coincided with gay pride celebrations in many cities. Cases peaked in August before tapering off, largely due to greater awareness. So far, just over 30,000 Americans have been diagnosed with monkeypox.
In the Chicago uptick, officials are worried about the disease spreading undetected among individuals, including those who are vaccinated. The men who are infected have an average age of 34, and a third of them also have HIV. Some of the men involved had recently traveled to places like Mexico, New York City and New Orleans.
Chicago Commissioner of Public Health Dr. Allison Arwady announced that cases have been rising in the Windy City. Speaking on Facebook Live, she said: “Most weeks we didn’t see a single mpox case, maybe one or two in a higher week. But just these last couple of weeks we saw two, then five, now another six coming in.”
Officials have been issuing warnings recently about the potential for a resurgence this summer as hundreds of thousands of individuals head to gay pride festivities throughout the nation. So far, however, there has not been an uptick beyond the one in Chicago.
A total of 62 cases were reported in the two-week period from April 26 to May 10, with most of them being in Texas, followed closely by Illinois. Other cases were reported in Louisiana, California, New York, Florida, Oregon and Alabama. However, officials from Texas said that at least 17 of those cases were actually from last year and were only just now being added to the CDC’s count.
WHO declares monkeypox health emergency over

The WHO recently declared an end to the international emergency declared over the virus last July, when Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus overruled an expert committee in issuing the designation. Some believe that he may have been acting out of an abundance of caution due to criticism over how the WHO responded to COVID in its early days.
However, he now says that the outbreak is largely under control, declaring: “We now see steady progress in controlling the outbreak based on the lessons of HIV and working closely with the most affected communities.
“I’m pleased to declare that the mpox is no longer a global health emergency,” he added.
Monkeypox, which is now sometimes referred to as “mpox” in an attempt to destigmatize it, has long been present in certain areas of western and central Africa, where individuals are infected by wild animals. However, it was not responsible for major outbreaks until epidemics started popping up around the world last May.
The disease is marked by a telltale rash accompanied by headache, fever, swollen lymph nodes and muscle pain. It can only be spread through close physical contact with someone who is infected, or contact with their bedding or clothing, and it generally responds well to antivirals. However, it can take around a month to recover from the virus.
Despite being relatively mild in most people, it won’t be surprising if officials and pharmaceutical companies use the Chicago uptick and the impending summer gay pride festivals as a reason to try to push vaccines on people.

(Natural News) Just in time for “pride month,” the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is warning the public that attendance and participation at pride events this summer could lead to a resurgence of monkeypox.
It has only been a few weeks, by the way, since the CDC revamped its guidelines to allow homosexual males to donate blood without so much as a screening for AIDS or any other sexually transmitted diseases. Meanwhile, the CDC is warning that an uptick in “mpox,” as they are now calling it, is expected in conjunction with pride.
According to the CDC, an “uptick in mpox cases in Chicago that began in mid-April underscores the risk of renewed mpox outbreaks, which we judge is substantial across the United States.”
The reason why the CDC now calls it mpox is because the Biden regime decided that calling it monkeypox is “racist,” presumably because some people refer to blacks as monkeys (?).
“CDC continues to assess that the risk of resurgent mpox outbreaks is substantial in the United States,” the agency wrote in its May update.
“The risk of outbreaks could further increase as people gather this spring and summer for festivals and other events with high potential for skin-to-skin contact or increased sexual activity.”

Since the Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) “pandemic” has been all but completely milked dry, the CDC has shifted its focus back to pridepox, which it says “may have evolved mutations to evade the two-dose Jynneos vaccines that were rolled out last year to protect against it.”
Such rhetoric suggests that once again we are going to see new jabs developed at warp speed for these alleged new strains of monkeypox, which means more money for Big Pharma.
These alleged mutations are said to have been detected “in a cluster of cases” around Los Angeles. In some “rare cases,” the agency warns, drug-resistant monkeypox can be transmitted person-to-person – but during pride activities, those few rare cases are likely to become many, many new cases.
“Cases of mpox in San Francisco remain low. However, we remain watchful as several new cases have recently been reported in other parts of the country,” said San Francisco Health official Dr. Susan Philip in a statement that was strategically released “in advance of the summer season and Pride Celebrations.”
“We want to make sure that everyone can enjoy a happy and healthy Pride.”
As expected, the Biden regime is already talking about unveiling new monkeypox “booster” shots to go along with the first two Jynneos jabs that were released last year, just like what happened with covid shots and their “boosters.”
“Pride about what?” one commenter asked about why they call these things pride celebrations in the first place.

(Natural News) The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently warned of a potential outbreak of monkeypox (mpox) due to an avalanche of June Pride Month parades, festivals and protests.
As per the CDC risk assessment, an “uptick in mpox cases in Chicago that began in mid-April underscores the risk of renewed mpox outbreaks, which we judge is substantial across the United States.” According to the warning, the health agency continues to assess the risk of resurgent mpox outbreaks and it found that the risk of outbreaks could further increase as people gather this spring and summer for festivals and other events with high potential for skin-to-skin contact or increased sexual activity.
CDC admitted that gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men make up the majority of the infectious disease cases in the country. But the agency further warned that anyone who has been in close, personal contact with someone who has monkeypox is also at risk.
According to the CDC, healthcare providers should also rapidly report cases to local public health officials and event organizers should take steps to reduce the spread of the virus associated with their events and “work with local health authorities to coordinate vaccination at their events, if possible, as well as establish communication and outreach plans.”
Diagnosed cases have been “increasing slightly” in eight countries in recent weeks, including France and several countries in East Asia, said Dr. Rosamund Lewis, the World Health Organization (WHO) technical lead for monkeypox. About half of the recent French cases were in vaccinated people.
The CDC also acknowledged in the risk assessment release that it was looking into a theory that the monkeypox virus “may have evolved mutations to evade the two-dose Jynneos vaccines that were rolled out last year to protect against it,” CBS News reported. “CDC is collaborating with the Chicago Department of Health to investigate this cluster and specifically looking into why we are seeing more vaccinated cases than expected,” Dr. Christopher Braden, head of the CDC’s mpox response, said in a recent call with clinicians.
Mpox resurgence could be due to its resistance to antiviral drug used against it

In an unpublished study that has yet to be peer-reviewed, the CDC reported monkeypox strains had turned up with signs of resistance to tecovirimat (TPOXX), the main antiviral drug used to treat patients.
“These findings inform our understanding of when tecovirimat resistance is likely to occur and highlight the need for additional [Orthopoxvirus] OPXV therapeutics,” the research indicated.
One of those worrying mutations was also detected “in a cluster of cases” around Los Angeles in California. That suggests drug-resistant monkeypox can be transmitted person-to-person in at least “rare cases.”
Meanwhile, CBS News reported that the U.S. is still averaging less than three cases reported each day.
