FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - December 30, 2011 – HimalayaUSA® announced today it is conducting a voluntary recall of Organique by Himalaya Nourishing Night Cream with batch #S691001 and batch #S691002 effective immediately. This product was distributed nationwide in the U.S. and in Canada. For identification purposes, the product is sold in a cylinder shaped teal bottle with an orange cap. The batch numbers are located on the bottom of the bottle.

The bacteria staphylococcus aureus and fungus were found present in samples of Nourishing Night Cream batch #S691001 and were traced to the bottle’s pump components, which were supplied by a third party manufacturer. These microbes are found in the environment and are frequently seen as normal flora found on skin, though they may become opportunistic in immunocompromised people or if introduced to broken skin. As there is no way to determine if all pumps used contained these microbes, HimalayaUSA is recalling the entire batch.

Although no microbes were found in batch #S691002, the same pump components may have been used in its manufacturing, so in an abundance of safety, HimalayaUSA is voluntarily recalling this batch, too.

This recall is effective only for the batch numbers indicated and not for any other Nourishing Night Cream batch. To date, The Company has received no reports of consumer injury. The recall was proactively taken by HimalayaUSA immediately upon learning of the presence microbes in the product. Moving forward, the company will test all third party bottle components for the presence of microbes.

HimalayaUSA is committed to providing accurate information about its products and because of concerns for the health and safety of our customers, we are asking anyone in possession of Organique by Himalaya Nourishing Night Cream Batch #S691001 or #S691002 to return the product to the point of purchase or directly to HimalayaUSA immediately for a refund or replacement. Subsequently, all other Nourishing Night Cream batches have been batch tested and are free from any contamination.

Family owned since 1930, we have built the success of our company on research, trust and integrity. Therefore we cannot stress the importance of making sure every Himalaya product stands up to the strictest standards for purity and effectiveness.

HimalayaUSA is working voluntarily with the FDA in the recall process. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this recall has caused and assure that you can continue to use Organique by Himalaya products with the utmost confidence. If you have any questions or concerns about this recall please contact our Customer Service Team at 800=869-4640 between 8:00AM – 5:00PM CST.

Recall -- State / Local Press Release

FDA posts press releases and other notices of recalls and safety alerts from states as a service to consumers, the media, and other interested parties. FDA is not responsible for the content of these notices.

Consumer Alert for Cheese and Milk Products Due to
    Listeria monocytogenes Contamination

    Contact:
    Consumer:
    617-983-6712

    Media:
    Jen Manly
    617-624-5006

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - December 29, 2011 - The MA Department of Public Health (MDPH) is issuing a warning to consumers to avoid consumption of certain cheese and milk products because the products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes (L. monocytogenes). The presence of L. monocytogenes in foods such as cheese and milk products represents a significant danger to public health.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued an 11/24/11 health alert notifying residents of Canada of a voluntary recall initiated by the dairy plant, 3903052 Canada Inc., Boisbriand, in Québec. This large recall followed two previous alerts, fairly extensive product testing and a clinical match to a case of listeriosis.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) notified MDPH on 12/28/11 that product was distributed to Cedar Market located in Norwood, MA. Cedar Market is a retail establishment, which also sold the following products to Bahnan’s located in Worcester, MA.

The recalled products distributed in Massachusetts have the brand name “Fromagerie Marie Kade”. All cheese products involved bear establishment number 1874. Any Best Before dates up to and including those listed, are affected by the alert. The cheese products that are the subject of the consumer alert in Massachusetts include:

Akawi Cheese Best Before 08 MAR 2012
Baladi Cheese Best Before 08 FEB 2012.
Shinglish Cheese Best Before 07 NOV 2012
Tresse Cheese Best Before 10 NOV 2012
Vachekaval Cheese Best Before 10 MAR 2012
Halloom Best Before 01 MAY 2012
Moujadale Best Before 04 MAY 2012
    L. monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms, such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and still births among pregnant women.

To date, no illnesses have been reported in MA. MDPH has worked with the US FDA and local officials to embargo and destroy these products and to review inventory records for distribution.

Since the recalled products have not expired, it is possible that consumers may have products in their home. For that reason, MDPH is advising consumers who have purchased products listed to discard them. Consumers with questions may call MDPH Food Protection Program at 617-983-6712.

    Recall -- Firm Press Release

Bekkum Family Farms LLC Announces The Recall Of Nordic Creamery Brand Grumpy Goat Shreds With A Sell By Date Of 10-MAR-12 Due To Possible Listeria Contamination

    Contact:
    Consumers and Media
    Al Bekkum
    608-606-2585

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - January 3, 2011 - Bekkum Family Farms LLC of Westby, WI, is recalling shredded cheese because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The cheese is labeled "Grumpy Goat Shreds" under the Nordic Creamery brand name, in eight-ounce bags with a code date of 10-MAR-12. It was sold in stores in Wisconsin, Minnesota and California beginning Nov. 11. The product should be thrown away or returned to place of purchase for a full refund.

"Public safety is our main concern in a situation like this," says Al Bekkum, company spokesman. "Even though our product has not tested positive for the bacteria, we are conducting this recall out of an abundance of caution."

Bekkum Family Farms was informed by Alpine Slicing & Cheese Conversion, Monroe, WI, that its cheese was shredded on the same equipment where other cheese had tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. Alpine processes and packages cheese for other companies.

Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an uncommon but potentially fatal disease. Listeriosis can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness, and nausea. Listeriosis can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths. The very young, the pregnant, the elderly, and persons with compromised immune systems are the most susceptible to infection. People experiencing these symptoms should seek immediate medical attention.
