The Islamic State bans pickles

Tavern Keepers has crafted quite a few words in the past detailing the things that Islamists ban in their never ending quest to completely control everything. Some of the classics included air conditioners (for women home alone), swimming in the ocean (for women), and handling cucumbers (once again for women.) Protecting the world from phallic shaped vegetables has now been taking a step forward, with the Islamic State banning pickles in the Iraqi city of Mosul. According to Alsumaria News, ISIS has shut down shops selling pickled products and destroyed such products when found in the city’s markets. The ban on pickles, in this case, has nothing to do with potential adultery and everything to do with alcohol. Islamic State leaders fear pickled products could be used to manufacture homemade alcohol. In addition to pickles, people in Mosul have been banned from wearing jeans, shopping at falafel stands, buying nuts of all kinds, and smoking. On a more serious note, Christians and other religious minorities (who have not been killed or driven out of the city) have been banned from receiving ration cards.
