Washington DC Mayor Vincent Gray Calls for Nationwide Gun Control Efforts During Speech

    September 18 2014

    by Dan Cannon

Washington DC Mayor Vincent Gray used the anniversary of the Navy Yard Shooting to renew his calls for gun control, not just in DC (which already has the toughest laws in the nation), but for the entire country.

Here are some of the comments Gray made during his speech.
“For me, it’s a wound that remains fresh. Residents of our city lost friends and neighbors; they lost mothers and fathers; they lost colleagues and they lost fellow church members.”
“Our country is drowning in a sea of guns.”
“Senseless gun violence like this is an all-too fact of life here in the District of Columbia and in the nation’s big cities. But it’s a fact of life that we need to stop accepting.

Why is it that these tragic occurrences never seem to move us any closer to ensure that guns don’t get in the hands of criminals or people who are mentally unstable?”
“I refuse to be silent that the time for passion is now, ladies and gentleman.”
“Guns are not the answer, ladies and gentlemen. Guns would not have saved the victims of the Navy Yard.”
Gray lamented the fact that Washington DC will have to put a carry permit process in place following the Palmer court case decision. However, as we reported yesterday, that process will likely result in very, very few permits actually being issued.
“Those laws are tough laws, and the laws of others are now under attack by Second Amendment advocates who believe in putting the rights of gun owners before community safety,” Gray continued, decrying how gunman Aaron Alexis was able to legally buy weapons in Virginia.

Judge Nap: Cop's Actions Against Beheading Suspect Illustrate Importance of Gun Rights

Judge Nap: Cop's Actions Against Beheading Suspect Illustrate Importance of Gun Rights

    by Fox News Insider // Sep 30 2014 // 12:10pm

As seen on Fox and Friends

Alton Nolen's alleged murderous rampage at a Moore, Oklahoma, food processing plant was stopped by the quick action and two gunshots of company COO Mark Vaughan, who is also a sheriff’s deputy.

Vaughan's heroics spared "untold" lives, according to the Moore Police Department.

After yet another example of how guns can save lives, Judge Andrew Napolitano joined Steve Doocy on Fox and Friends to discuss why President Obama and his administration continue to wage a war on the Second Amendment.
Judge Nap said that despite any other philosophical, constitutional or legal ramifications about the right to bear arms that this might touch off, Vaughan, as a part-time sheriff's officer, was licensed to carry a gun.

"The practical argument is ... more guns equals less crime," Judge Nap said. "Why? Because the bad guys fear reactive violence from the victim or someone around the victim more than they fear getting caught."
"That will at least give them pause, or it will stop them in their tracks, as happened here."
Judge Nap added that the problem is that Obama continues to impair gun rights and thinks he knows how to protect us better than we know how to protect ourselves.
"If more people were legally armed, there would be less violence, period. Whether it's monsters trying to destroy us or whether it's a crackpot in the workplace or a nutjob in the street."

Los Angeles Enacts New Guns Laws And Violent Crime Goes Up

    October 8, 2014

After the passage of numerous new control laws at the state and city level during the last 18 months, Los Angeles California “is on course to end the year with an increase in violent crime.” Here are some of the new gun laws:

The LA City Council voted to ban the possession of “high capacity” magazines within city limits. The Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that restrictions on concealed carry had to be eased, the LA County Sheriffs Department did not comply. The LA City Council supported the push to ban “single shot” handguns, a ban which was implemented on the state level. In addition to the city-level laws, California Governor Jerry Brown signed laws banning lead ammo, expanding criminal firearm storage rules, requiring safety certificates for owners of long guns, and expanding background checks

But crime is rising, rather than falling in LA. According to the Los Angeles Times, LA’s “overall violent crime rate is up 7.6 percent so far this year compared with the same time in 2013.”

More Gun Control, More Crime In LA

After the passage of numerous new control laws at the state and city level during the last 18 months, Los Angeles "is on course to end the year with an increase in violent crime."

Here are some of the new gun laws:
On May 4, 2013, the Huffington Post reported that the LA City Council voted to ban the possession of "high capacity" magazines within city limits. On February 23, 2014, the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that restrictions on concealed carry had to be eased, the LA County Sheriffs Department did not comply. And on July 2 of this year, Breitbart News reported that the LA City Council supported the push to ban "single shot" handguns, a ban which was implemented on the state level.
In addition to the city-level laws, on October 11, 2013 Breitbart News reported that California Governor Jerry Brown (D) signed laws banning lead ammo, expanding criminal firearm storage rules, requiring safety certificates for owners of long guns, and expanding background checks, among other things.
But crime is rising, rather than falling in LA.

According to the Los Angeles Times, LA's "overall violent crime rate is up 7.6 percent so far this year compared with the same time in 2013." The increase in such crime "has been driven by aggravated assaults... which have jumped nearly 20 percent." And rapes are up 7 percent.
It is interesting to note that "aggravated assaults" -- the kind which are up 20 percent in LA -- are attacks characterized, in part, by the use of "weapons."
Crimes involving weapons are driving violent crime rates higher in the wake of a new gun control laws.

New York Proposes Gun Confiscation Bill

Posted on October 9, 2014 by Philip Hodges

New York legislature is considering bill that would mean gun confiscation for many people.

We just reported recently about California’s new law that provides steps for someone to petition a court to issue a “gun violence restraining order” on a family member that would result in confiscation of any firearms that individual possesses. All you’d have to do is present evidence to the court that that particular person is a danger to himself or others, and police would willingly confiscate that person’s guns.

Now, there’s another state thinking about doing the same thing. Not surprisingly, it’s New York. Guns.com reported:
A new bill intended for the state Assembly, modeled after California’s AB1014, was debuted this week by a Manhattan Democrat. Like the West Coast law, the first of its kind in the nation, it would set up a framework to deny firearm possession to those believed to be dangerous.

“So this is a bill that would permit family members or friends or medical professionals or law enforcement or really anyone who’s concerned that somebody having to access to guns poses a serious danger to go to a court and present evidence of that, and if the court were persuaded, they would be able to issue a temporary order preventing the person from acquiring or possessing guns,” Assemblyman Brian Kavanagh, author of the legislation, told WAMC this week.

Kavanagh’s bill, as detailed in a release from his office, is intended to provide another tool in society’s toolbox to prevent gun violence. The avenue to implement the so-called gun violence restraining order would be the court system, who, upon being presented with a petition that contends an individual’s possession of guns in their current state could pose a general danger, could authorize an order to confiscate the firearms involved. The subject could then seek a “prompt hearing to respond to the petition and present any contrary evidence, and the court would only uphold the denial of access to guns if there is clear and convincing evidence of danger.”

The bill has already gained the quick support of a number of gun control groups including the Brady Campaign, the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, and former Rep. Gabreille Gifford’s Americans for Responsible Solutions PAC.

It will not be difficult at all to convince a court that another person’s guns need to be taken away. Remember, everyone in any official capacity wants to err on the side of taking everyone’s guns away, “just in case.” A medical professional or a disgruntled family member won’t need much information in order to determine that someone is “dangerous.” All it takes is one word taken way out of context.

Most Expensive State House Race in Colorado Comes Back To Gun Control

    Greg Campbell 2 hours ago

Beyond Colorado's headline-grabbing races for Senate and governor, the election for House District 59 is starting to generate its own news for being the most expensive race for state house in Colorado — all thanks to tough new gun control laws passed in 2013.

The contest is between Democratic incumbent Mike McLachlan and Republican challenger J. Paul Brown for a small district centered on the rural city of Durango.
According to the Durango Herald, the race has attracted "a waterfall of money" from outside groups, to the tune of at least $718,000 in a market where media and advertising are much cheaper than urban centers along Colorado's Front Range.
The reason? Mostly likely, it's due to McLachlan's support in 2013 for a slate of aggressive new gun control laws that led to the recall of two state senators and the resignation — in lieu of a recall vote — of a third.
Supporters of the Second Amendment had also targeted McLachlan for a recall, but they couldn't collect the requisite number of signatures to force a special election against him.
Conservative groups seem determined to make an example of McLachlan during this election and Democrats seem equally intent on keeping him in office.
"Republican-leaning groups have spent at least $219,655 on the race, the bulk of it — $197,178 — on ads attacking McLachlan," the Herald reported. "Democrat-leaning groups have spent $238,500 on the race, with $131,000 going to ads in favor of McLachlan and $107,500 on ads knocking Brown."
The paper reported that because of ambiguities in the campaign finance requirements, it's difficult to tell where the money is coming from or, in fact, exactly how much has been spent.

But big bucks are certainly in play. Ads for the otherwise obscure house race have run on ESPN during Monday Night Football and on CNN.
The candidates themselves are uncomfortable with the wall-to-wall coverage, according to the Herald. McLachlan told the paper that one mailer supporting him "basically shows me single-handedly winning the Vietnam War."
Others depict him as opposed to the Second Amendment because of his support for Colorado's new gun laws. The most controversial require a background check for every firearms transfer, including between private parties, and limit the size of ammunition magazines to 15 rounds.
The new laws were so contentious that their opponents successfully recalled two Democratic state senators, including the senate president, for supporting them. A third senator resigned rather than face an election so that the Democratic majority in the chamber could be preserved; a Democratic Party vacancy committee appointed her successor.
McLachlan was also targeted for recall, but those hoping to oust him couldn't muster the requisite number of signatures to trigger a special election.
The race between the men is considered to be competitive. The two also faced off in 2012, with McLachlan beating Brown by just 2 points.

British Gun Control Shows Again Why We Are No Longer British

    Published on: October 16, 2014

here are a few private gun owners left in England. What they have to endure shows once again why Americans are no longer British.
To get a gun in England, the burden of proof is on the citizen. And, no, self-defense is not one of the accepted reasons for wanting to buy a gun. It doesn’t really matter, because guns have to be kept locked in a safe so they will not be available for self-defense.

The British law is so rigid that the Olympic pistol team has to fly to Belgium to practice.
Breitbart.com ran an article by Andre Walker on October 14 reporting that the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) has kicked off a campaign to make warrantless entry (remember this is the United Kingdom with no Fourth Amendment) into peoples’ homes and make unannounced inspections.
Get Bradlee Dean's My War, a DVD series that takes on the issues of today and gives understanding and clarity of who our Founders were, and their true intentions when they established our Judeo-Christian nation
England has the world’s fourth highest violent crime rate. Admittedly its murder rate is quite low, at 1.3 per 100,000. Yet Fairfax County, Virginia, in which Gun Owners of America is located, has a murder rate of 1 per 100,000. The county has over a million inhabitants and is quite close to Washington, DC so Gun Owners of America can lobby on Capitol Hill. In all of Virginia, concealed carry permits are fairly easily obtained.
Moreover, handguns may be openly carried in a holster. Not long ago, I was paying for some purchases when a customer walked through the door with a handgun holstered on his hip. The clerk took notice of it and finished checking me out.
But ACPO doesn’t think the British gun laws are tough enough. The group has publicly pushed for tighter controls even though British police are supposed to be politically neutral.

ACPO was rebuked by the leader of an up and coming right of center party, the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP). The party seeks to withdraw from the European Union which is governed by unelected bureaucrats who are accountable to no one.
Earlier this year Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Peter Fahy publicly rebuked UKIP leader Nigel Farange after he suggested hand gun regulations were too tough. Fahy said: “We should all be grateful that we have got such tight gun control in this country when you look at the States – it’s awful over there.”
Chief Constable Fahy reminding us once again why we are no longer British. Mr. Fahy, we have our Second Amendment to protect us from people like you.
Twice in recent history, guns in the private possession of the people have been the tools used to resist tyranny. During the August, 1946 Democrat primary in Athens, Tennessee, the police walked off with the ballot boxes and took them to the police station. Armed men with rifles arrived in pickup trucks and automobiles. A brief firefight ensued, after which the police realized they had better stand down. They did, and the reform party won – because the votes were honestly counted after all.
More recently Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy was attacked by a SWAT team from the rogue Bureau of Land Management (BLM). People spontaneously came to his defense resulting in an armed standoff. The BLM stood down.
This is what Chief Constable Fahy thinks is “awful over there.” Admittedly, dictatorship is much more difficult when dealing with an armed populace.
