The American people still cannot get a straight answer from the Obama Administration as to whether or not we are at war with the Islamic State. While President Obama may not be keen on declaring war on ISIS (or ISIL, or DAISH, or whatever you want to call it), he is prepared to declare war on… Ebola.
On Tuesday, Obama is expected to deliver a speech at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, where he will urge Congress to approve an $88 million plan that includes sending portable hospitals, doctors and health-care experts, and medical supplies to the west African nations hit hardest by the Ebola outbreak.
Liberia has been one of the hardest hit countries. On Friday, the World Health organization reported there were 4,366 Ebola cases reported as of September 7 – including 2,218 deaths. Last month, WHO said it hoped to control the outbreak within nine months and predicted there would be 20,000 total cases by that time.
While two American aid workers have been successfully cured of the disease, you may remember Glenn was less than thrilled about bringing infected patients back to the United States. To add insult to injury, Glenn explained TheBlaze is currently investigating a tip it received from a reader about an influx of Nigerians entering the U.S. and going to work in Texas.
“Due to an extreme shortage of prison guards in Texas, prisons are so desperate for employees that they started looking outside the country,” Glenn said. “Where are they from? Well, there are a substantial number of prison guards from Mexico and Nigeria.”
While Glenn could probably devote an entire hour to the corruption of the Mexican prison system, Nigerian workers present a unique challenge.
“We are hiring people from Nigeria who are going back and forth to their country. Doesn’t really seem like a good policy for a lot of reasons. But, again, what pops out is Ebola,” Glenn said exasperatedly. “Call me crazy, but letting Nigerians roam freely in and out of our country as they work as correctional officers in prisons – also in transportation and food service – might seem like something we should look into.”

Since Pat and Stu have consistently said they are not particularly concerned about the Ebola threat, Glenn thought it was a good idea to send them to Houston for a live report from a state penitentiary. Let’s just say Pat wasn’t looking to good by the time Glenn had a chance to speak to him.
