Obamacare Forcing South Carolina Businesses To Hire Part-Time Over Full-Time Workers

South Carolina staffing agencies say small businesses are hiring more part-time workers than full-time because Obamacare costs won’t allow them to bring on the latter, WMBF reports.
One of the key provisions of Obamacare, also known as the Affordable Care Act, is the mandate that businesses with at least 50 employees must provide health insurance for those who work more than 30 hours a week, something these businesses and others all around the country cannot afford.
Unemployment dipped to its lowest level since 2008 last month at 6.1 percent, but that number appears more attractive on the surface due to more and more people only getting part-time employment.
“I would say 90 percent of our employers, businesses today, are hiring part-time as opposed to full-time, because of the Affordable Health Care Act,” said IHT Staffing’s Billie Baggett of Myrtle Beach, S.C. “It’s not something a corporation wants to do.”
