USA PATRIOT Act Additional Reauthorizing Amendments Act - S.2271

The Senate is scheduled to take up this bill reauthorizing the PATRIOT Act after returning from the President's Day recess.

I just got this message in my mailbox a minute ago. WE need to get on the phones just like we did last time before they REALLY mess us over.

I'll be calling at 8am. The Utah thing can wait a day or two.

I am writing you today to urge you to vote NO on the Patriot Act re-authorization. In the 4+ years since it’s enactment, it has not shown to be worth more than the civil liberties it infringes upon. As the illegal NSA wire-tapping program has shown, “Power corrupts, and absolute power…. Well, you get my point.

Thank you for taking the time to hear my opinion. I hope you will do what is right for America, instead of what is right for the White House. I leave you with a quote from Benjamin Franklin, who said, “"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.â€
