I do not understand with all of our navy seals and snipers and technology, why cant they take out these guys next to the captain? Couldn't they send a seal team to dive and pop up around the raft and take these terrorists out? or use a team of snipers to shoot these guys or their guns? With all of the options we have why are we backing down? Or why don't we give them the ransom they let the captain go then we attack them with all our might and make them pay, and send a message to the rest of the world that we are not pushovers?

Yes, what is going on there? Four Somalis in a dinghy can't be 'dealt with' in some way? What was the point of those ships going full steam ahead to get there & then just sit & watch? I read somewhere this morning that the captain actually managed to get out of the boat & swim away from them but they recaptured him!!!

the boat the pirates are in is enclosed, it's made for safety in dangerous waters during storms and to roll over and upright itself in high waves. The pictures on the news this morning showed a metal enclosed submarine type boat with a small open door on one end.

I'm surprised that the Captain managed to escape at all.

I am sure with our advanced thermal imaging and x-ray cameras the navy knows exactly what is going on inside the boat. I think that they are afraid of something, much bigger than what we would ever been told though.
