Rick Perry? Birth Certificate says James Richard Perry
Rick Perry? Birth Certificate says James Richard Perry
Real Names of Politicians
We know them as Rick and Mitt, but their parents named them James and Willard. Click through and see which other American politicians tweaked their names -- or changed them altogether.
Politician's public name: Rick Perry
Politician's birth name: James Richard Perry
After Donald Trump spent time with Rick Perry and then said, "I had dinner last night with Jim Perry, I was impressed with him," people thought The Donald might have had some memory loss. Turns out, the 2012 hopeful was given the name James Richard by his parents (he shared the initials JRP with his father, Joseph Ray Perry). By high school, however, Perry was already going by Ricky.

tycoon ran unsuccessfully for president in 1992 and 1996, first as an independent, then as a Reform Party nominee.
