CEDAR CITY Ryan Bundy is scheduled to appear in Iron County Justice Court at 9 a.m. Wednesday in Cedar City for a nuisance charge stemming from 2013.

    Bundy, son of
Bunkerville rancher Cliven Bundy, said he has property in Cedar City, and he keeps a dump truck on that property. He said he is being charged by Iron County with a class B misdemeanor for responsibility for a nuisance because the truck is not registered.

“This is a violation of private property rights,” Bundy said.

“They’re calling it an issue of zoning. Zoning is communism.”

Bundy argues the unregistered vehicle is not hurting anyone and that the community shouldn’t be able to dictate what happens on his property.

“I’m not their serf, and I’m not their slave,” Bundy said. “They are not the master of my property.”

Bundy said he attempted to appease the county and the community by moving his truck out of sight. However, he said, if that isn’t good enough for the county to drop the charge, he doesn’t intend to do any more to “kiss their tail.”

“As a person, I have a right to live and pursue happiness,” Bundy said. “I’m going to stand up for property rights.”

    The Iron
County Sheriff's Office did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

    Background on Ryan Bundy

Ryan Bundy arrested after allegedly resisting arrest in Cedar City

POSTED 5:43 PM, JANUARY 28, 2015, BY MARK GREEN, UPDATED AT 05:45PM, JANUARY 28, 2015

CEDAR CITY, Utah – Police in Iron County booked Ryan Bundy, son of controversial Nevada cattle rancher Cliven Bundy, into jail this week after the man allegedly attempted to resist arrest when officers approached him about an outstanding warrant.

According to information from the Iron County Sheriff’s Office, 42-year-old Cedar City resident Ryan Bundy was at the Iron County Justice Court Tuesday regarding a separate case. Police approached Bundy about a warrant, but the man did not comply.

According to Iron County officials, “When told about the warrant Mr. Bundy both verbally and physically resisted the deputies’ attempts to take him into custody. Deputies were able to overcome his resistance and arrested Mr. Bundy.”

Bundy was booked into the Iron County Jail on the existing warrant, which was for interfering with an officer (animal), and on a new charge of resisting arrest.

The Bundy family made national headlines during a dispute over cattle grazing fees on BLM controlled land in Nevada, and the federal officials’ attempts to follow through on a court order to seize the Bundy’s cattle were met with armed resistance.

A standoff ultimately resulted in federal officials backing down and releasing the cattle they had seized
    .

Like-minded individuals from many places had traveled to the Bundy’s ranch for the controversy, which was viewed by some as a rallying cry against what they perceive as federal overreach. Some of those who gathered were part of that armed standoff.

Ryan Bundy also attended a land use protest in which people rode all-terrain vehicles in Utah’s Recapture Canyon—which is closed to ATV access. Click here for details. Several of those who carried out that protest now face charges for their actions.

The hearing in the case involving Ryan Bundy was rescheduled for a date yet to be determined, according to the the Iron County Justice Court.

    Bundy’s attorney, Matt Munson of
Cedar City, appeared on Bundy’s behalf on Tuesday and the judge granted a continuance for a later date, according to court records.

Munson said he could not comment on his client’s case while the case is pending.

Ryan Bundy was scheduled to appear for a nuisance charge stemming from 2013.

    Bundy, son of
Bunkerville rancher Cliven Bundy, said he has property in Cedar City where he keeps a dump truck.

Cliven Bundy became a “political celebrity” because of his April 2014 feud and standoff with the
    Bureau of Land Management.

Ryan Bundy said he is being charged by Iron County with a class B misdemeanor for responsibility for a nuisance because the truck is not registered.

Bundy said he attempted to appease the county and the community by moving his truck out of sight.

“As a person, I have a right to live and pursue happiness,” Bundy said. “I’m going to stand up for property rights.”

According to court records, this is not Bundy’s first run in with the law concerning property in Iron County.

In December of 2006, he entered a not guilty plea to two charges of dog at large before being assessed a $175 fine.

    In
February of 2007, he again entered a not guilty plea to a charge of burning out of season without a permit on private property.

He as eventually assessed a $100 fine for the charge.

Nuisance charge against Bundy dropped in Cedar City

    Haven Scott, hscott@thespectrum.com 8:11 p.m. MDT October 13, 2015

The Iron County Attorney’s Office has dropped charges in a case involving Ryan Bundy — a 2013 nuisance charge stemming from a non-registered dump truck on his property in Cedar City.

    Iron County Attorney
Scott Garrett confirmed his office dropping the charges due to Bundy coming into compliance with the matter.

Bundy said he received word from his attorney the charges have been dropped.

“But I haven’t seen anything official,” Bundy said. “I moved it from one side of the lot to the other and got it out of the way. It makes me upset it was a problem to begin with. What is private property? So what if you own it if the government can tell you what you can have on your land?”

Bundy said he realizes there are some in the county who have “salvage yards” on their properties but said that was not the case with his.

Garrett said charges against Bundy for resisting arrest are still pending.

That charge stemmed from an incident earlier this year when Bundy appeared in court for the nuisance charge.

Bundy had a warrant for failing to appear on a 2014 interfering with an animal control officer charge
, so when he went to court for the nuisance charge, Iron County deputies arrested him on that warrant.

“At that time, (Bundy) told officers ‘that’s not going to happen today.’ He immediately began fighting them,” Iron County Sheriff
Mark Gower said during that time. “It took several deputies but they were able to overcome him and arrested him.”

Bundy is the oldest son of
Cliven Bundy, the Bunkerville, Nevada, rancher who became a “political celebrity” because of his April 2014 feud and standoff with the Bureau of Land Management.
