NASHVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A sheriff says one suspected gunman is in custody after two people were shot outside a North Carolina courthouse.

Nash County Sheriff Dick Jenkins says two men were recovering from non-life-threatening wounds suffered in the shooting Tuesday morning in Nashville. A manhunt is underway for a second suspect.

Jenkins says one gunshot victim ran inside the building and collapsed with wounds to a hand and leg. The other ran down the street and was found in a lot with a back wound. Both men were taken to hospitals. Nashville's police chief says neither worked in the courthouse.

Officers found four or five bullet casings at the scene.

Nashville is a town of about 5,500 in a heavily agricultural county.
