Broward Sheriff's Office crime sweep nets 180 arrests

Operation Full Blitz, a two-day law enforcement operation to fight drugs, prostitution, child sexual predators, fugitives and drunken and aggressive drivers yielded 180 arrests and 288 traffic citations, the Broward Sheriff's Office announced Monday night.

Also confiscated were 26 firearms and more than $1 million during the operation Friday and Monday.


Authorities streamlined the arrest and booking process so that deputies and officers did not have to stop working the streets to transport arrestees. Of those arrested, 109 were charged with felonies and 71 were charged with misdemeanors.


The participating agencies were: The Broward CountyDrug Task Force, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the U.S. Marshals Service, the U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Homeland Security investigations, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Florida State Probation and Parole and police officers from Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Hallandale Beach, Lauderhill, Sunrise and Coral Springs.
