Study: DC Is Sucking The Wealth Of The Country

The Weekly Standard recently discovered that the top four wealthiest counties are all in the vicinity of Washington D.C. As MoneyNews details:

The wealthiest county in the country is Arlington County, Va., with a 2012 median family income of $137,216. Arlington lies just across the Potomac River from Washington.Loudon County, Virginia, another county in the Washington metropolitan area, stands second at $127,192. Howard County, Maryland, which is situated between Washington and Baltimore, places third with $125,162.And Fairfax County, Va., located in the Washington metro area, takes fourth with $124,831.

The median income in the nation is only $52, 100! It is hard to believe that one of the least productive classes of people, the bureaucracy of the federal government, rakes in more than double the amount measured by median family income compared to the rest of the country. It used to be that the government jobs were the ones scoffed at for being low paid, whereas private sector jobs were better compensated. Now, revealing the increasingly socialistic nature of economy, the government workers make out like bandits while the common man is left out in the cold. Households across the nation have still not recovered from the DC induced financial crisis, but it does better than ever.

Fat benefits, easy hours, and great compensation are all marks of the federal worker.

When will the nation wake up? Feel free to comment on solutions to this income difference between DC and the rest of the country below.
