An Iowa man accused of repeatedly stabbing an individual Tuesday during a home invasion was killed by a train as he attempted to escape the crime scene, authorities reportedly said Wednesday.

According to WOI-TV, police say 32-year-old Lopez Christian Webster was sliced in half as he attempted to dodge between freight cars of a moving train.

“Whatever he was trying to do, he wasn’t successful in doing that,” Sgt. Jason Halifax of the Des Moines P.D. said. “He slipped, or didn’t make the jump, or didn’t clear the jump and landed on the tracks where the train ran him over.”
“He’s actually cut in half by the train,” Halifax added. “Physically cut in half by the train.”

One witness saw Webster’s fatal attempt to cross the rail road tracks.

“It’s very crazy — what happened last night,” Nery told WOI-TV.

“His body was torn apart,” Nery added. “It was bad. That’s it.”

The man Webster allegedly stabbed refused medical treatment and police say also refuses to cooperate with their investigation, according to WOI-TV.
