Is it time to whisper the word 'impeachment'?

Is it time to whisper the word 'impeachment'?

At the tea party in Washington, D.C., a popular sign read simply, "Impeach Obama."

As a moderator of discussion on the blog www.exposeobama.com, Floyd has observed the discussion of impeachment is mushrooming amongst conservative activists.

Radio personality Tammy Bruce may have captured these activists' beliefs about Obama best: "Uultimately, it comes down to ... the fact that he seems to have, it seems to me, some malevolence toward this country, which is unabated."

But has Barack Obama committed an impeachable offense? What exactly constitutes an impeachable offense? Former President Gerald Ford, while serving in the House of Representatives, said an impeachable offense was "whatever a majority of the House of Representatives considers it to be at a given moment in history."

Article I, Section 4 of the Constitution reads: "The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors."

The key phrase here is "high crimes and misdemeanors," a concept in English common law well-known to our Founding Fathers, but grossly misunderstood in this day and age. "High crimes and misdemeanors" essentially means bad behavior.

Let the world know your solution to tyranny and socialism in America with the magnetic bumper sticker: "IMPEACH OBAMA!"

Here's a passage from C-Span.org that succinctly summarizes the historical significance surrounding the inclusion of the phrase "high crimes and misdemeanors" in the Constitution: "'High crimes and misdemeanors' entered the text of the Constitution due to George Mason and James Madison. Mason had argued that the reasons given for impeachment – treason and bribery – were not enough. He worried that other "great and dangerous offenses" might not be covered ... so Mason then proposed 'high crimes and misdemeanors,' a phrase well-known in English common law. In 18th-century language
, a 'misdemeanor' meant 'mis-demeanor,' or bad behavior."

In other words, "high crimes and misdemeanors" does not refer to a criminal act. Our Founding Fathers fully intended to allow for the removal of the president for actions which include: gross incompetence, negligence and distasteful behavior.

For those who mistakenly hold the illusion that impeaching Barack Hussein Obama would be a simple matter of "playing politics," the founders fully intended that the impeachment of a sitting president be a political act.

As C-Span.org notes: "The Congress decides the definition [of impeachable offenses]: by majority vote in the House for impeachment, and by two-thirds vote in the Senate for conviction. The Framers of the Constitution deliberately put impeachment into the hands of the legislative branch rather than the judicial branch, thus transforming it from strictly a matter of legal definition to a matter of political judgment."

Impeachment is no more or less than the recall of an elected official who isn't up to the job. Obama deserves recall much more than Gov. Gray Davis, and he was replaced by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in a special recall election Oct. 7, 2003, in California.

America is a monument to the triumph of freedom. When Barack Obama thinks about freedom, he sees a world in which some people, due to personal initiative and good fortune, will do better than others. In that regard, he is right. But Barack Obama sees that as unfair. Where you see freedom, liberty and the opportunity for any American to be all that he or she can be, Obama sees greed and bigotry.

Like so many on the far-left before him, going all the way back to Karl Marx, he believes that it's his mission to promote "equality of outcome" over "equality of opportunity." This worldview makes Barack Hussein Obama a very dangerous man, and a threat to your personal liberty.

Worldview explains why he has gobbled-up major banks and why the government now controls more and more of our money. And if you wake up one day to discover you're broke, don't be surprised. Barack Hussein Obama is Bernie Madoff with the political power of the presidency at his disposal.

Worldview explains why Obama intends to take away your freedom to choose your own doctor and your own treatment. Wherever government controls health care, bureaucrats decide who gets treatments, transplants, dialysis and costly medication

The groundswell of calls for the impeachment of Barack Hussein Obama is growing.

Yes, the following are acts of treason and I'm sure are impeachable offenses: when an elected official does not fulfill his/her constitutional obligation to protect the homeland, to secure the borders, to prevent an invasion of our country and a violation of our sovereignty by another country, when same elected officials aid and abet, in fact encourage and reward, unlawful behavior such as illegally entering, living, and working in our sovereign nation....... I could go on and on.

All this does not just pertain to Obama, it also applies to several members of Congress, and it applied to George Bush. I think we can file a motion to impeach based on these actions.

Can we retroactively impeach Bush, maybe it could at least be symbolic in his case? We should have had him impeached while he was still in office, for these same treasonous acts.

You're right AS7, of course. I was focused on the removal from office. I didn't think about being able to take George Bush's pension with a retroactive impeachment. AND of course we CAN still charge him with Treason, even if we can't remove him from office now.

Just nullify the election; impeachment is unnecessary.

On September 19, 2009 at 7:58 PM, "Xavier Cugat" wrote concerning Barnett v. Obama, previously known as Keyes et al v. Obama et al.

Judge Carter has granted a STAY in the discovery proceedings so that the Motion for Dismissal can be heard.

[On Wednesday, Oct. 7, Judge Carter finalized the date for the trial to proceed, with opening statements on Jan. 11 and the trial to begin on Jan. 26.]

The motion for dismissal will be DENIED because of the rulings in 487 F2d 700 Nixon v. J. Sirica 1973 and,

[Judge Carter has now denied the MTD.]

The U.S. Supreme Court in the case of United States vs. Nixon 418 U.S. 683 (1974) in an 8-0 decision ruled that the President’s claim of Executive privilege DOES NOT extend to criminal cases.

[Fraud, usurpation, and treason are all possible criminal charges at a later phase of this prosecution.]

Judge Carter will subpoena Obama’s records which Obama placed under seal via Executive Order #13489, his FIRST Executive Order upon taking office.

[Dr. Orly Taitz, Esq., is eagerly awaiting Judge Carter's go-ahead to proceed to discovery with the authority of the court.]

And just like Judge Sirica, with strong sympathies for checks and balances amongst the three branches of the Federal government, Judge Carter will subpoena ALL of Obama's records for the purposes of conducting an in camera inspection of these documents.

[We shall see if discovery bears fruit before the DoJ attorneys can get an injunction from the far-left 9th Circuit Court.]

Obama will appeal all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, which will uphold Judge Carter’s subpoena citing the aforementioned Nixon cases.

[This case won't even have to go to an appeal. Discovery at the District Court level will reveal that fraud and deceit have wrought a bloodless coup d'état. Widespread public loss of confidence will force the usurper out of office. He will be unable to govern or to exercise authority.]

Then, like Nixon, Obama will be forced to resign and fight to keep his records sealed, just like Nixon spent the REST OF HIS LIFE doing the same with his precious Oval Office tapes.

[N.B.: "forced to resign." Neither a conviction nor even a full trial will be necessary. Simple discovery will so impair his ability to command that he will have to abandon the Oval Office. If he refuses to budge, the military or the FBI may end his publicly exposed usurpation.]

This story was already played out 35 years ago; no need to reinvent the wheel on removing a crooked President of the United States.

[Or a fraudulent usurper of the office of President. Judge Carter needs only to nullify the Nov. 4th Presidential election on account of the ineligibility of the candidate(s). The court of public opinion will take care of the rest.]

All of these rulings are available on-line and are as insightful to all of the issues that are being discussed today concerning Obama as they were when Nixon was President.

[The Democrats set the precedent with the removal of Nixon. There will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth, but few of those who pushed Nixon out of office will be able to cry "foul" when Mr. Obama gets the same treatment.

Death is no longer an available penalty for treason, but tar and feathers is hardly an appropriate punishment.]

You can't impeach someone who is illegally in the office. Impeachment as I understand only applies to a legal occupier of the office.
