Trump, Paul Ryan will speak at Friday's March for Life anti-abortion rally in D.C.

Vice President Mike Pence took the stage at the anti-abortion March for Life rally in Washington, DC on Friday. He declared that "life is winning again" following the election of Donald Trump. (Jan. 27) AP

More than 100,000 anti-abortion advocates will descend on Washington, D.C., Friday morning for the 45th March for Life, where President Trump will become the first commander-in-chief to address the rally.

The event, billed as the "largest annual pro-life demonstration," also will include speeches by several members of Congress, including House Speaker Paul Ryan. Tim Tebow's mom Pam Tebow, will speak, along with ex-NFL player Matt Birk and his wife Adrianna.

Protesters will gather for a rally on the National Mall at 11:30 a.m., to hear Trump and others speak. The president will appear via satellite from the White House. Attendees will then march to the Supreme Court and Capitol buildings.

Next week will be the 45th anniversary of the Supreme Court's Roe vs. Wade ruling, which legalized abortion nationwide. The March for Life has described "on-demand abortion" as "the greatest human rights violation of our time."

On Thursday, Vice President Mike Pence primed March for Life attendees, telling a group of anti-abortion activists Trump is "the most pro-life president in American history."

Pence was the highest-ranking public official to speak at the rally last year, when he proclaimed "life is winning in America."

The rally comes as Trump supporters, and his opponents, recognize the anniversary of his inauguration this weekend. On Saturday and Sunday, Women's marches will take place across the country.

Only prayer will defeat ‘power of darkness’ called abortion: Card. Dolan at March for Life vigil

WASHINGTON, D.C., January 18, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – The battle to end abortion will not be won on the political front alone, Cardinal Timothy Dolan told a packed Basilica this evening at the Prayer Vigil Mass for the March for Life in Washington D.C. First and foremost it is waged on the spiritual front where abortion must be recognized as a “power of darkness," he said.

“The forces we face are not just those we can see, [which] are ominous enough. I'm afraid we battle, as well, an axis we cannot see, whose powers are stronger than any in creation, save one: our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who called himself ‘the Way, the Truth, and the Life,” he said at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

Dolan, who is the Archbishop of New York and Chairman of the U.S. bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities, said that pro-lifers fighting for the “civil right to life and to equal protection under the law” of “the tiny innocent baby in the womb” have come to the Basilica on the vigil of the March for Life to “commence this project” specifically in prayer.

“This place — a home — the powers of darkness are scared of. [It’s a] house where Mary is our mother, where Jesus dwells, and where we are with family,” he said.

“We come to admit realistically that there are powers of darkness in a culture Pope Francis calls ‘throw away’ and Saint John Paul termed ‘of death.’ As Pope Francis often reminds us — everybody — we are fools if we dismiss the power of Satan,” he continued.
“So, you bet we are here this evening to advocate to be encouraged and to lobby, but we're also here to pray, not as warriors, but as apostles of life, apostles armed, not with money, not with hate or destructive words, [but] armed with, as our Holy Father exhorts, with ‘love and joy.’”

Dolan urged all present to be “apostles of life, who like those first twelve — as recalled in this evening’s word — believed in the power of Jesus and who saw — as recorded in the Gospel — unclean spirits fall down before him and shout ‘you are the son of God.’”
“No wonder we say, ‘Let us give thanks to the Father who delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved son,’” he said.

Dolan said that just as Martin Luther King Jr. fought for civil rights when those rights were being excluded from a group of people, so pro-life advocates are fighting with a “passion for the belief” that the “little baby has civil rights” too.

Part of the fight is to “lobby for life,” he said.

“Our elected representatives, executive and legislative, and the judiciary they appoint, need to see and hear and feel the grassroots power and sincere voices of millions…we are here to say, we are not going to give up,” he said.

Dolan said that elected officials need to know that “reason and the grand American tradition enshrined in our foundational documents are on our side.”

“Our love for babies and their struggling moms and dads, our passion for a society to assist and protect all venerable life, will keep us at it, because, to borrow my brother pastor’s [Martin Luther King] refrain, ‘we shall overcome.’

The March for Life vigil Mass kicks off an annual event that sees hundreds of thousands of pro-life advocates converging on Washington to March for Life. The event marks 45 years of legal abortion in the United States, and proclaim that “Love Saves Lives.”

They gather to mourn some 60 million children killed in the womb since the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade ruling struck down abortion laws on January 22, 1973, and to renew their strength to continue the battle to secure protection for their country’s tiniest and most vulnerable citizens.

And in a momentous first, the March for Life crowd will see a livestream video address from their sitting president. Trump will speak to the March from the White House Rose Garden to kick off the rally preceding the March.

Hundreds of thousands of pro-lifers backed by Trump march for life in D.C.

    WASHINGTON, D.C., January 18, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) –

Hundreds of thousands of pro-life advocates are converging on Washington for Friday’s March for Life to mark 45 years of legal abortion in the United States, and proclaim that “Love Saves Lives.”

They gather to mourn some 60 million children killed in the womb since the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade ruling struck down abortion laws on January 22, 1973, and to renew their strength to continue the battle to secure protection for their country’s tiniest and most vulnerable citizens.

“Choosing life is not always easy, but it is the loving, empowering, and self-sacrificial option,” March for Life president Jeanne Mancini told LifeSiteNews.

And in a momentous first, March for Life participants will hear a live video address from their sitting president.
President Donald Trump will address participants by live-stream video from the White House Rose Garden to kick off the rally preceding the March.

“The President is committed to protecting the life of the unborn and he is excited to be part of this historic event,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told media Wednesday.

With the March coming just one day before the first anniversary of his inauguration, Trump’s administration will undoubtedly be a hot topic during the many symposiums, rallies, protests, panels, galas, and other March events that began Thursday and continue until Saturday afternoon.

Certainly, the Trump White House has shown greater public support for the March than any other, with Vice President Mike Pence and counsel-to-the-president Kellyanne Conway speaking at the event last year.

Leading pro-life advocates attending the March praised the Republican president's pro-life stance.

“The Trump administration is already shaping up to be the most pro-life in history,” David Daleiden told LifeSiteNews.

The well-known founder of the Center for Medical Progress will be speaking at Thursday’s Law of Life Summit, and taking part in Friday’s Digital Action Summit organized by the Family Research Council. CMP’s shocking undercover videos of Planned Parenthood officials negotiating the sale of aborted baby parts sparked legislative efforts to cut off federal funding to the abortion giant and investigations into its grisly activities.
“President Trump is ready to sign the bill to strip $500 million in taxpayer subsidies from Planned Parenthood’s abortion empire as soon as the Senate gets its act together and sends it to him,” said Daleiden.
“So many Americans are grateful that the Department of Justice is now doing its job with Planned Parenthood under federal investigation for selling aborted baby body parts,” he added.

“The pro-life movement is stronger than ever under President Trump,” said Fr. Frank Pavone, president of Priests for Life U.S., to LifeSiteNews.

“I believe history will show him to be the greatest pro-life president we have had. His courage and direct way of thinking and his problem-solving mindset are serving the cause well.”

Priests for Life member Fr. Stephen Imbarrato told LifeSiteNews the association is sponsoring three events at the March, including a protest Thursday at Washington’s Planned Parenthood center.
Fr. Imbarrato was among 10 people arrested in recent Red Rose Rescues in Michigan and Virginia. He is taking part in Friday’s “Free Mary Wagner” rally outside the Canadian embassy. Wagner, 43, is in jail in Canada awaiting trial on charges of mischief and breach of probation. She’s spent four years and nine months so far behind bars for peacefully attempting to persuade women to choose life for their unborn babies.
The March’s theme "Love Saves Lives" is the “foundation of our Red Rose Rescue efforts,” Fr. Imbarrato told LifeSiteNews.

“In our love for God and His creatures, we desire to save these babies from being killed through our loving witness to their moms, right up till the last moment,” he said.
Monica Migliorino Miller, arrested in Michigan for her pro-life rescue efforts, said the March is important “because it keeps the issue of abortion alive in the mind of the public.”

“We are calling America to responsibility for the injustice against the unborn, and calling America to do justice for the unborn,” she told LifeSiteNews.

“Moreover, the March reinvigorates pro-lifers to stay the course, to not give up until the unborn are free.”
While the pro-life movement is “making advances” in “some important ways,” there is “so much work to be done,” she said.

“Respect for life has seriously eroded and it will probably take decades to build the true culture of life where human life is respected from womb to tomb.”
Fr. Pavone described the March as “a day of prophetic victory.”

The marchers are “marked by both sadness and joy. Our grief is real because babies are still being killed and families wounded,” he told LifeSiteNews.

“But our joy is real because we already have the victory of life in Jesus Christ and we know that history will vindicate us and that we will have a culture of life.”
The March starts with a musical event at 11:30 Friday, January 19, followed by the rally at noon.

Aside from President Trump, rally speakers include:

    • House Speaker Paul Ryan
    • former NFL player Matt Birk
    • former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow's mother Pam
    • Republican Congressman Chris Smith
    • Republican Congressman Jaime Herrera Beutler
    • Democratic Congressman Dan Lipinski
    • Sister of Life Bethany Madonna
    • Orthodox of America Metropolitan Tikhon
    • Bishop Vincent Matthews Jr.

The March for Life rally begins 11:30am ET, with speeches at around 12:00pm. The March itself takes place at 1:00 p.m and proceeds up Constitution Avenue to Supreme Court and Capitol Building.

They need to address this issue. And who would have been responsible to feed the 60 million unwanted children?

We have enough people on welfare and food stamps breaking our backs.

This planet is already overpopulated. We need responsible birth control and sterilization for those who want it. We need Global Population Control. Jobs and resources will continue to be scarce. Low wage jobs will be all but eliminated due to automation...already happening.

We need free and low cost vasectomies and tubal ligations. Appointments need to be easy to make as getting a Dental appointment.

We need to end breed and feed programs and stop people from a lifetime of living off the government by having kids to get a paycheck and freebies.

If you do not want children, can't afford them and do not want to be in their life then go get the procedure done because we need to cut off the welfare and food stamps!

I will only offer this Beezer. We have tens of millions of illegal aliens here. There have been 60 million abortions. I believe that is millions of Americans who would have been valuable assets to our nation, hard working Americans doing good and great things. Killing our own and importing foreign citizens to replace us is not a winning strategy in my opinion.

I agree with you that our government should not encourage having children to reap financial benefit. Our government needs to encourage strong families, hard work, stop rewarding those who can and could work, stop rewarding people for having more children and penalizing marriage. Society should encourage the same. Personal responsibility and moralty can help guide better decision making, too.

We also do not want or need foreign citizens here illegally taking from the individual or families of American citizens. We do have enough people on food stamps and welfare. Illegal aliens are a big part of this problem.

There will always be abortion. They will get it in back alleys. Need to have strict guidelines on it.

There are too many unwanted children in this World...and we need every available from of Birth Control and have it easy to get across the Globe.

And no one speaks of the MEN who are just as responsible for "creating" these children. Men who do not want to pay for them, men who walk away from them, men who are not in their lives...and men who then go on and impregnate more women with more children that these MEN do not want.

Society has put 100% of this on the female and that also needs to stop. Both need to be responsible for birth control and both need to pay for their children...not US taxpayers.

So how about if the woman wants an abortion...that they have the option to hand the baby over to the man to take care of? It is their baby too. How will the MEN feel about that? Probably won't like that too much!!!

I'm Pro-Choice, and support abortion rights. Pro-Choice means you support the girl or woman involved, whatever her decision is, whether she chooses to have a baby or terminate the pregnancy, her decision, her choice. Whatever her choice is, is what I support, because I support her and what she believes is best for her life.

    Life Is Winning in America

Today, tens of thousands of Americans have traveled to Washington, D.C., for the 45th annual March for Life. They come from all across our nation, and from every walk of life – students of every age, blue-collar workers, people of many backgrounds, mothers and fathers, sons and daughters.

Yet no matter their story, today they will join hands and hearts on the National Mall, and with one voice they will call on the United States of America to rededicate itself to the most fundamental right enshrined in our Declaration of Independence – the unalienable right to life.

Thanks to their courage, and thanks to the leadership of President Donald Trump, life is winning in America again.

This year, President Trump will personally address the March for Life from the Rose Garden of the White House – something no president has ever done. It is fitting that he is the first to take such a historic step, because since the outset of this administration, we’ve taken historic action to protect the most vulnerable in our society.

In one of his very first acts in office, President Trump reinstated the Mexico City policy, to prevent American foreign aid from going to organizations that promote or perform abortions. Our administration has also broadened this policy to cover nearly $9 billion in foreign aid.

We’ve stopped U.S. funding for the United Nations Population Fund, so American taxpayers won’t have to support abortion in such countries as China.

We’ve reversed the last administration’s policy and empowered states to defund Planned Parenthood and devote those resources to women’s-health providers. It was my great honor to cast the tie-breaking vote for this bill in the United States Senate.

And President Trump has been nominating – and will continue to nominate – strict constructionists to the federal courts at every level, men and women who will uphold the God-given liberties enshrined in our Constitution.

And today, when he speaks to the March for Life, President Trump will announce new policies to further protect life and conscience.
In short, life is winning in America again. It’s winning because of the policies of our administration, and because of the commitment and compassion of those who gather today in our nation’s capital, and in marches, meetings, and homes all across the country.

Life is winning through the steady advance of science that illuminates when life begins.

Life is winning through the generosity of millions of adoptive families, who open their hearts and homes to children in need.

Life is winning through the compassion of caregivers and volunteers at crisis-pregnancy centers and faith-based organizations who bring comfort and care to women, in cities and towns across this country.

And life is winning through the quiet counsel between mothers and daughters, grandmothers and granddaughters, between friends across kitchen tables, and over coffee on college campuses, where the truth is being told, and hope is defeating despair.

When President Trump addresses the March for Life, it will mark the unprecedented progress we have made in the cause of life. Yet for all that we’ve accomplished, for all the lives that have been saved, and all the victories that have been won, the harder work still lies ahead.

We must continue to be a movement that embraces all and cares for all out of respect for the dignity and worth of every person. We must recommit ourselves to be a movement of compassion, not confrontation, of generosity, not judgment, and above all else, we must continue to be a movement of love.

This I know we’ll do – because I have faith.

We will restore the sanctity of life to the center of American law.
I have faith in the goodness of the American people. I have faith in the president they elected. And I have that other kind of faith – the faith that moves mountains, and that, even now, stirs all across America.

And with the courage of all who march on this day, with the leadership of President Donald Trump in the White House, and with the guidance and grace of God above, I know that we will restore the sanctity of life to the center of American law – for ourselves, and our posterity.

    – Michael R. Pence is the vice president of the United States of America.
