TX-EDITORIAL: Voter ID bill tries to reduce turnout

Voter ID bill tries to reduce turnout

The right to vote is one of the most fundamental rights we have as U.S. citizens. This partisan voter ID bill that seeks to deter eligible voters from voting or reducing turnout, is another petty tactic derived from the same Republican machine that has run this country into the ground, dismantling our reputation here at home and abroad.

It is unfortunate to see that the Republican Party is still playing politics with our rights. There is no conceivable justification for this bill to become law. They claim it will address problems with voter impersonation, etc., but the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

The party is trying to make up for its loss in the 2008 presidential election by reducing turnout among seniors, students, people of color and those with lower incomes.

These partisan politicians in the state house should know better than to play games with our right to vote, just to make up for their own shortcomings.

Absolutely hilarious, and very sad that the author does not appreciate the most important right given to a citizen.

So seniors, students, people of color, and those with lower incomes don't have ID? How do they drive to the polling places, how do they do anything else without ID? The evil Republicans are actually expecting voters to have ID - how dare they! Unbelieveable.
