In response to a House Ways and Means Committee subpoena as part of the investigation of the IRS Tea Party scandal, the IRS says they “lost” all of Lois Lerner’s emails because her personal computer “crashed.” Of course, we know that emails to and from an individual don’t get “lost” when their personal computer crashes—as all emails in any organization are stored on a remote server. Even if they were in fact lost, through the Edward Snowden revelations, we know these “lost” emails could easily be made available to the Obama administration by asking the NSA to dig them up. In fact, one congressman, Steve Stockman, has asked the NSA to cough up Lois Lerner’s “lost” emails.
But we know from the “lost” emails from the Fast and Furious scandal that the Obama administration is not going to dig up any emails for Congress and the American people anytime soon. In fact, Obama invoked executive privilege—most say illegally—to keep all Fast and Furious documents and emails under wraps—forever.
But we have enough emails and documents that were revealed by Congressman Darrell Issa’s recent investigations, and the emails obtained by the government watchdog group Judicial Watch, to show that an IRS conspiracy to attack the Tea Party indeed took place. In fact, Issa’s recent investigation released last week shows that the conspiracy involved not just the IRS, but the Department of Justice and FBI as well.
