The mainstream media continues to embarrass itself.
On nearly every big story they have been on the wrong side of it.
The worst case of this was Russiagate.

The Washington Post was just forced to issue a huge correction:

The Washington Post corrects, removes parts of two stories regarding the Steele dossier
New reporting and the recent indictment of dossier contributor led The Post to decide it could no longer stand by the stories.

From The Washington Post:

“The Washington Post took the unusual step of correcting and removing large portions of two articles, published March 2017 and February 2019, that had identified a Belarusian American businessman as a key source of the “Steele Dossier,” a collection of largely unverified reports that claimed the Russian government had compromising information about then-candidate Donald Trump.”

Side note:
The Steele dossier was not “a collection of largely unverified reports.”
The Steele dossier was Clinton campaign funded Russian disinformation.

Danchenko Indictment: How Dossier Non-Source Sergei Millian Was Framed
With permission by Paul Sperry, RealClearInvestigations November 10, 2021 In January 2017, Igor Danchenko, a primary source for the Steele dossier, told FBI officials in a debriefing that one of his sources for derogatory information about Donald Trump’s alleged ties to Russia was merely an anonymous voice on the other end of a phone call … Continue readingDanchenko Indictment: How Dossier Non-Source Sergei Millian Was Framed

“The 2017 and 2019 stories were written by veteran reporters Rosalind S. Helderman and Tom Hamburger. They declined to comment.”Fire them—maybe they’ll comment.

Replying to @julie_kelly2According to Simpson’s book, he hightailed it to Philly in July 2016 to help pivot media attention away from DNC email scandal to Russia collusion. One of the first reporters he met with? @thamburger

Worked like a charm! “Fiona Hill, a former Russia expert on the National Intelligence Council, said putting the emails out on WikiLeaks for the world to see is consistent with her view of the modus operandi of Putin and Russian intelligence.”

Clinton campaign — and some cyber experts — say Russia is behind email release
The extraordinary charge comes amid increasing concern that Russia may be meddling in the U.S. election.

Replying to @julie_kelly2Looks like @thamburger was Simpson and Steele scribe pre-Trump dossier. Recall Steele hired Simpson FIRST to dig up dirt on Paul Manafort for Steele’s client—Oleg Deripaska:

Transactions with billionaire oligarchs and other foreign investors have at times spurred legal disputes.

This is a start at best; it's wholly inadequate given what the paper has published about the Steele dossier over the years. Also, why is this in the style section?
