Reuters - U.S. to fast track $29 million to help Charleston shooting victims' families
WASHINGTON
The Justice Department will fast track the sending of $29 million to South Carolina to help families of victims of the mass murder of nine churchgoers at a historic black church in Charleston, a Justice Department spokesman said on Friday.
An unspecified portion of the money, allocated under the government's national Crime Victim Assistance Formula Grant program, can be used to provide services to the families of victims of the shootings at Emmanuel AME Church, spokesman Kevin Lewis said.

Obama Uses Deaths of 9 Americans to Push Gun Control… Pro-Gun Groups Respond With THIS "within hours of the mass shooting"
In a sickening display within hours of the mass shooting at the historic Emanuel African Methodist Church in Charleston, S.C., President Barack Obama took to the airwaves to push his anti-gun agenda, essentially blaming an inanimate object for the tragic deaths of nine people.
But several gun-rights groups blasted Obama for politicizing the horrible event instead of focusing on healing for the victim’s families and the Charleston community.
“Just hours after the tragic shooting in a South Carolina church, President Barack Obama resumed his fanatical war on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners,” said spokesman for Gun Owners of America Erich Pratt.
Pratt pointed to how quickly Obama blamed the gun instead of what Pratt considers the more culpable issue: “gun control policies that leave people defenseless in the face of evil perpetrators who are never effectively prevented from acquiring weapons.”
During Obama’s press conference in the wake of the shooting, the president falsely claimed that “this type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries.”
That’s simply untrue, according to the founder of the American Gun Owners Alliance, Dave Dalton, who rhetorically asked if Obama ever watches the news.
“We had the shooting in Canada not that long ago. You had the one in Sweden. You had knife-and-machete attacks in the U.K. and other countries,” Dalton said. “You know this stuff happens.”
After explaining that it wasn’t the gun that walked into Sandy Hook Elementary and killed 20 children and six adults, he made the same comparison to the Charleston shootings.
“This gun didn’t walk into that church, sit there for an hour and then decide to kill these people,” Dalton told Newsmax. “It was a human being that did it every time. Whether they’re mentally unstable, they’re overtly racist or whatever it is, the common factor here is the human being.”
Many critics of Obama’s anti-Second Amendment agenda argue that had the church not been a “gun free zone” and allowed its worshipers to exercise their Second Amendment rights by carrying concealed firearms, there might have been fewer people dead.
The bottom line is that Obama should not have used this tragic event to continue his efforts to severely restrict firearm ownership in this country.
But then again, we’re not surprised that he did.
