White House OK with removing Obamacare mandate repeal from Senate tax bill More

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump would not object to removing a provision in a Senate Republican tax plan that would repeal the Obamacare mandate if it "becomes an impediment," White House budget director Mick Mulvaney said on Sunday.

Some Republican senators who have been critical of the plan warned that some middle-income taxpayers could see tax cuts wiped out by higher health insurance premiums if the repeal of the Affordable Care Act’s mandate goes through.

"If we can repeal part of Obamacare as part of a tax bill ... that can pass, that's great," Mulvaney said on CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday. "If it becomes an impediment to getting the best tax bill we can, then we are OK with taking it out."

Currently individual plans under the Obamacare mandate are too expensive now for anyone to afford, myself included.

I have a history of cancer and was forced to drop my insurance due to the $1200 monthly premium.

Before obamacare, I had a great individual plan (Obama called it Cadillac insurance) with a $248 month premium. Just repeal the entire Obamacare laws and force the insurance company’s to revert back to the pre-Obamacare policies.

Honestly, I suspect Trump would be amenable to doing anything that would put a tax bill on his desk for signature. Let's not hide from the truth, the man is desperate for a success, any success!

The mandated health tax, and that's what it is, needs to go away. Folks that can't afford the outrageous healthcare premiums shouldn't be penalized by being forced to help pay for something they can't afford to participate in.
