Corruption Alert: Romney’s Choice of Michael Leavitt for Transition Team is Completely Unacceptable

The big news on Conservative blogs today is Mitt Romney has chosen Michael O. Leavitt, the former Utah Governor and HHS Secretary under President George W. Bush, to lead the transition, after Mitt is elected.

Reports: Romney Transition Chief Cashed in on Obama Health Plan

Leavitt, who served as Health and Human Services secretary under President George W. Bush, heads a firm that has positioned itself as a leading consultancy to help implement the Affordable Care Act, and it’s already won contracts to do so, Salon reports. On its web site, Leavitt Partners touts a section of the business that advises clients on how to implement and respond to the health insurance exchanges created by the Obama health care plan.

Ron, Rand Paul: Get Government Away From Internet

July 6, 2012 by Sam Rolley

Ron, Rand Paul: Get Government Away From Internet

Over the Independence Day holiday, some Internet freedom groups sought to remind Americans of the importance of protecting the World Wide Web from overreaching government regulation, a cause that Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul and his son Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) have joined wholeheartedly but with a different angle.

The Pauls set forth a plan to keep the Internet in the hands of the private sector, which they posit will shape the online world in a way conducive to freedom, liberty and economic growth in A Technology Revolution: A Campaign For Liberty Manifesto.

While other Internet freedom advocates have focused their efforts against Internet control more on corporate control of the Web, the Paul manifesto decries the “collectivist vision that seeks to regulate ‘fairness’, ‘neutrality’, ‘privacy’ or ‘competition’ through coercive state actions, or that views the Internet and technology as a vast commons that must be freely available to all.”

They say in the statement that corporations should not be heavily scrutinized by the government in their efforts to collect vast sums of online data for advertising purposes, but that government should be barred from using the Internet for warrantless surveillance.

    The manifesto says:
Technology revolutionaries succeed because of the decentralized nature of the Internet, which defies government control. As a consequence, decentralization has unlocked individual self-empowerment, entrepreneurialism, creativity, innovation and the creation of new markets in ways never before imagined in human history.

But, ironically, just as decentralization has unleashed the potential for free markets and individual freedom on a global scale, collectivist special interests and governments worldwide are now tirelessly pushing for more centralized control of the Internet and technology.
The manifesto warns that Americans will be tricked into allowing the government to take over new technologies with the use of subversive language and under the guise of protecting Americans from evil corporations.

“Internet collectivists are clever,” the manifesto says. “They are masters at hijacking the language of freedom and liberty to disingenuously push for more centralized control. ‘Openness’ means government control of privately owned infrastructure. ‘Net neutrality’ means government acting as arbiter and enforcer of what it deems to be ‘neutral’.”

According to Buzzfeed, some Republican strategists contend that Internet freedom from government control will be the younger Paul’s go-to issue, similar to his father’s crusade against the Federal Reserve.

Could Ron Paul pull an upset at Republican convention?

Ron Paul to hold "major" pre-convention rally.

The Capitol Column | Monday, July 02, 2012

Texas congressman and 2012 Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul plans on holding a major rally for his supporters prior to the Republican national convention in August, according to an announcement posted to his presidential campaign website.

The Ron Paul campaign signed a contract on Thursday to secure the University of South Florida’s 11,000-seat Sun Dome for Sunday August 26th, the day prior to the beginning of the three-day Republican national convention, where presumptive Republican nominee is expected to accept the party’s nomination.

“The Republican National Convention is just around the corner, and the establishment is about to find out what you and I have known all along this election season – the future is ours!”

Mr. Paul wrote supporters in an email sent out on Friday. “So on Aug. 26, the day before the convention convenes, I hope you’ll join me at a special rally to celebrate how far our message and movement have come this year.”

Ron Paul supporters plan on organizing their own three day Ron Paul festival, leading up to the rally that will feature the libertarian candidate.
During a recent appearance on CNN, Mr. Paul refused to endorse Mr. Romney, as he wants to have a strong presence at the campaign for his thousands of supporters who are expected to show up in strong numbers. Mr. Romney and Mr. Paul have different views of how the Republican party can not only win the general election, but also restore the economic vibrancy of the U.S. economy and reduce the national unemployment rate.

The Texas congressman has amassed a significant number of state delegates. The Republican party’s uniquely binding delegate rules has allowed Mr. Paul to build support, and the strong number of delegates could serve as providing Mr. Paul with credibility among Mr. Romney and the other top Republicans Tampa for the convention.

The Republican National Committee has approved of the pre-convention rally that will feature Mr. Paul, according to his campaign website, which further gives the Texas Republican and his supporters credibility for having their views heard on balancing the federal budget, scaling back government involvement in domestic affairs and drastically reducing the nation’s military presence in foreign countries.

Ron Paul campaign chairman said that the goal of the rally is to set a tone of “professionalism and respect” for the delegates that will be supporting Mr. Paul at the national convention. In recent weeks, both Mr. Paul and members of his campaign team have asked his supporters not to portray a negative or argumentative tone at the national convention, in an effort to make sure that his message for the Republican establishment is not shrouded by negative reports about his supporters.

The Ron Paul rally is not a ticketed event at the University of Southern Florida, so it will be interesting to see how many Ron Paul supporters travel from all over the country to show how much support their candidate has.

Oregon Republican Party Appoints Friends in Secret Meeting to Replace Duly Elected Delegation

Duly Elected Delegates and Alternates Will Continue Convention Preparations.

    http://www.ordelegates2012.org/2012/07/orp-appoints-friends-...

SALEM, Ore. – Oregon Republican Party (ORP) Executive Committee members gathered for a secret meeting in Eugene Saturday, June 30 in an ultra vires attempt to appoint replacements for the state’s duly elected alternate delegates. This meeting came exactly one week after the ORP Congressional District (CD) Conventions elected delegates, alternate delegates, presidential electors, and district officers. Executive committee friends and family received the illegitimate appointments – some without even filing for the office – and duly elected alternate delegates received a conciliatory letter from ORP Chairman Allen Alley on their “unsuccessful” election.

CD Conventions held June 23 were met with several hours of delays after voting for delegates to the Republican National Convention and presidential electors to the Electoral College. After more than two hours of delays, CD Chairmen at each convention simultaneously stated the meetings could not proceed later than 5 p.m. and announced, without a motion from the floor, that the conventions were to be immediately adjourned by order of ORP Chairman Alley.

A strong majority of attendees at Congressional District Conventions 2, 3, 4 and 5 objected, voted to continue their business — some in the absence of their CD Chairman and ORP officials — and concluded elections for alternate delegates to the Republican National Convention. PCPs who stayed past 5 p.m. included supporters of Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, Rick Santorum, and Newt Gingrich.

“There was an organized effort by ORP leadership to impede the proceedings of the conventions and stall for as long as possible,” said Kevin Renfrow, PCP and duly elected alternate delegate. “They were blaming our delays [in CD-5] on CD-4,” said Diana Hengerer, PCP from CD-5. “In CD-3 they blamed CD-5 and in CD-1 they blamed CD-3.”
“It’s clear Alley and ORP leadership are not happy with the delegation election results,” said Tom Armstrong, PCP and House District Captain. “They wanted their family, friends, and ‘good old boys’ seated on the delegation and they’re willing to break every rule and bylaw to make that happen.” Armstrong’s outrage is shared by those whose vote was unduly dismissed and whose voting rights were violated.

Illegitimate alternate delegate appointments include Kevin L. Mannix, Tim Nashif, and Loren Later who did not file for the positions to which they were appointed; Lindsay Berschauer, Bridget Barton, and Rob Kremer, principal members of Third Century Solutions, a public affairs company with Associate Alley Alley; Ourania Yue, wife of National Committeeman and Executive Committee member Solomon Yue; Jeff Grossman, executive committee member; Lauri S. Hein, in a relationship with Jeff Grossman; Loren Later, executive committee member; Elisa Later, wife of Loren Later; Lisa Walker, wife of FreedomWorks Vice-President Russ Walker whose delegate election is contested; Lindsay Berschauer, running for state representative in House District 26 and worked for the Oregon Transformation Project chaired by Allen Alley; Rob Kremer, ORP treasurer; Andrew Miller, CEO of Oregon Transformation Project, chaired by Allen Alley; Tim Nashif, Oregon Family Council co-founder; and Kevin L. Mannix, who ran for Oregon governor in 2002 and 2006 and Congress in 2008.

In a letter sent to all duly elected alternate delegates July 5, Alley stated, “If you are receiving this letter, you have not been elected as a Delegate or Alternate Delegate to the Oregon Delegation for the Republican National Convention in Tampa, FL. Thank you so much for your service to our Party.” [1]

The duly elected Oregon Delegation condemned the actions of Allen Alley and ORP leadership and admonished them to follow ORP Bylaws, Standing Rules, and the will of the CD conventions. Duly elected delegates and alternate delegates will continue their preparations for the Republican National Convention held August 27-30 in Tampa, Fla.
Saturday’s secret Executive Committee meeting is the latest in a series of controversial actions by ORP leadership surrounding the ORP CD Conventions and it’s clear that Oregon Republicans are taking notice. A resolution to the Executive Committee, the Oregon Republican Party, and the Republican National Committee began circulating to the State’s hundreds of Precinct Committee Persons (PCPs) early this week. PCPs who have been disenfranchised and whose voting rights have been violated have been asked to join the letter as signatories.

The resolution states firmly that, “We, the undersigned, duly elected [PCPs], do hereby recognize and serve notice … that the business of the ORP Executive Committee meeting held June 30, 2012 is invalidated by operation of law in accordance with ORP Bylaws, Article IV, Section E for failure to give the required 30 day written notice … and furthermore, we … do hereby direct and admonish [the] ORP Executive Committee members to follow the laws and the bylaws…” [2]

"Big Name" Republicans Skipping GOP Convention (We're Winning)

    Ron Paul 2012

It should come as no surprise that the establishment is waking up to the realization that Romney may very well NOT be the nominee come convention time, and it would appear that "prominent" Republicans are beginning to pout because they might not get to speak at the convention, although their excuses are that they need to "campaign" instead. I think they just know that nobody wants to hear their bs. Oh, and we won't be nominating their candidate of choice....

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Former presidential candidate Jon Huntsman announced Friday that he plans to stay home in protest.

Former Virginia Sen. George Allen confirmed this week that he plans to campaign instead of travel to Tampa, Fla.; Montana Rep. Denny Rehberg—who is running for Senate—will also not be in attendance; and Nevada Sen. Dean Heller said this week he is considering begging off if he doesn't get a major speaking role.

"If they want us to speak, we'll probably be there," Heller, who skipped the 2008 convention, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "If they don't choose for us to get a good speaking position, we'll probably stay here and campaign."

Sounds like these people are more worried about "getting a good speaking position" than actually trying to help the American people.
