An immigration enforcement advocate is not surprised with a new study that claims the illegal alien population in the United States is likely double – or possibly even triple – what has been reported in previous estimates.

The traditional estimate of the number of illegal aliens in America has been around 11 million, but a study by professors at Yale University calculates that there are probably between 16 million and 30 million illegals in the U.S. – as much as three times more than the usually cited figure.

The Yale researchers looked at estimates of how many people came illegally and how many people likely left, and they concluded that there are a lot more people who arrived than the 11 million suggested by traditional estimates.

The study could be cited by both sides of the immigration debate in the 2018 midterm election campaigns.

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) President William Gheen is anything but shocked by the doctored-down figures.

"Well, it doesn't surprise [me] because I've been fighting illegal immigration for 14 years now, and the number of illegal aliens in the country, according to the government, has remained about the same – between 10 and 12 million illegals – while illegal immigrants have continued to flow across our border in large numbers,” Gheen shared. “So, we're probably going to revise [what] we've been saying – 12 to 20 million illegals – and well probably start saying 15 to 25 million now … and adjust our language at ALIPAC in interviews."

The immigration expert also maintained that these adjusted totals make it even more clear that the U.S. has a serious problem.

"The power groups that are responsible for illegal immigration have been pumping them in here as fast as they can for many years to transform this country into a more socialist state,” Gheen argued. “The illegal alien faucet has been on for a long time."
