Several national and statewide groups are asking supporters to call members of the North Carolina General Assembly today to lobby lawmakers to pass three bills that could help curtail illegal immigration in the state.

House bill 36, which requires businesses with more than 24 employees to use the E-verify program to prevent illegal alien hiring, is scheduled for a vote by the NC State House today at 2pm. HB 351 is a voter ID bill that would help prevent more illegal aliens from voting illegally in NC elections and will be discussed at 11am by members of the House Appropriations committee. Senate Bill 205, which would stop illegal aliens from receiving taxpayer benefits like welfare, will be voted on in the Senate Judiciary 2 committee this afternoon at 4:30.

"We have a chance today to make great strides in preventing illegal aliens from stealing American votes, jobs, and tax monies in North Carolina," said William Gheen President of ALIPAC. "Passage of HB 36, HB 351 and SB 205 today would open up tens of thousands of much needed jobs for Americans in NC and protect American voters and taxpayers from further exploitation by illegal aliens."

ALIPAC is working with statewide groups and leaders to converge on the NC General Assembly today to pursue the passage of these bills.

These organizations plan to inform voters on how lawmakers vote on these bills today.

Ron Woodard of NC Listen, James Johnson of NCFIRE, and William Gheen of ALIPAC plan to work hard inside the NC General Assembly all day, while asking statewide and national supporters to call and e-mail NC lawmakers requesting passage of these bills.

"We have a chance to make history this year and finally get North Carolina citizens some relief from illegal immigration, which has been a top issue in this state for years," said William Gheen. "We need every citizen to stand up today and speak out on this issue and we will hold every lawmaker accountable to their constituents who want bills like these passed today."
