    It’s a Banned Ol’ Flag

    It’s a Banned Ol’ Flag

November 16, 2010 by Ben Crystal

The Flag of the United States. The Stars and Stripes. The emblem of the land we love. It’s adornment, apparel, even automotive appliqué. As the avatar of American liberty, it’s deservedly revered. As the embodiment of American eminence, it’s unfortunately reviled.

While most of our hearts bleed true for the Red, White and Blue, some of the more puerile pinheads on the Left consider Ol’ Glory a punch line. They sully it, stomp on it, even set it on fire; all the while wrapping themselves in the very protections it epitomizes.

Last week the flag took on a new role for one 13-year-old in Denair, Calif.: Scarlet Letter. Cody Alicea is a student at Denair Middle School. Cody proudly displayed the flag on his bicycle in homage to his grandfather’s service in the military. Then, three days before Veterans Day, Stanislaus County, Calif. School District officials put an abrupt stop to Cody’s patriotic expressions. They demanded he remove the flag from his bike.

Allegedly, the flag was drawing complaints from some of Cody’s peers and fellow teachers’ union victims. According to Superintendent Edward Parraz, the mere sight of Cody’s flag-festooned five-speed was racially inflammatory.

"Our Hispanic, you know, kids will, you know, bring their Mexican flags and they’ll display it, and then of course the kids would do the American flag situation, and it does cause kind of a racial tension which we don’t really want… We want them to appreciate the cultures."

So, the Mexican kids are displaying the flag of an entirely different country (for now, anyway); and the Stanislaus County School Superintendent is concerned about their sensitivities should someone display the flag of the country in which they’re living? It’s been said before, but it bears repetition: If it’s the dumbest thing you’ve heard all week:

    1. Liberals—especially teachers’ unions—are involved.
    2. It’s happening in California.

Parraz went on to describe “racial tensions,â€

Cody gets a little help -- from some patriotic friends.

Word spread quickly about the Denair Middle School eighth grade student Cody Alicea, who just wanted to ride around with an American flag on his bicycle. http://www.gopusa.com/fresh-ink/2010/11 ... m-bike.php

School officials, concerned because a Cinco de Mayo observance escalated into an all out war between American flags and Mexican flags, demanded that Cody take the American flag off of his bike.

Just a few years ago, that would have been unthinkable. Demanding that a young patriotic American boy take the flag off of his bicycle -- just in time for Veterans Day, no less. It used to be that those who didn't embrace the flag were the odd ones out.

We are through the looking glass, in the Twilight Zone and in some alternate reality, where a young boy, honoring his nation by proudly displaying the flag, is punished for being "offensive."

Let that just soak in for a moment.

An awesome group of patriots showed up today to escort young Cody to school. .

The American Legion Riders, the Patriot Guard Riders, and Rolling Thunder made sure the point was thoroughly made. God bless them, every one. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2627463/posts

Definitely the feel good story of the day.

Cody Alicea , the young man who rode his bike to school with an American flag on the back and was told to remove it by his middle school, enjoyed the company of some very special folks on his way to class yesterday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6U2hB-Pz ... r_embedded

Video: Hundreds ride with boy to show support for his U.S.-flag-decorated bike after school banned it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6U2hB-Pz ... r_embedded

Hundreds of American Legion riders and others joined Cody, sporting flags on their own bikes. The school had already relented and allowed Cody to fly the flag on his bike, but the community decided to teach the PC nutcases at Cody's school a lesson anyway.

I belong to the Patriot Guard Riders. We've never been told we can not fly our flags. There is no way they would even try to stop us. And if we can fly ours, everyone should fly one. Put them on your cars, bikes and anything else you have. We need to support showing pride in our flag, our country and our people. I never take my motorcycle out without putting up my flag. Never will. And I'm willing to protect it. I also have flags on my vehicles, a big one in my yard, and flag shirts, hats and anything else I can find with OUR flag on it.

Of course you have never been told you cannot fly our beautiful flag. Then again, you're not a defenseless 12 year old little boy who goes to a school full of militant illegal invaders and anchor babies, with a la raza superintendent running the school; who hates America and prefers his rag of mexico flying over school grounds.

You see these illegal invaders and their ilk are cowards and prefer to pick on people who cannot fight back and defend themselves. They are parasites who are destroying this country and not enough of our leaders give a damn.
