Doesn't Chicago have very strict gun laws? I heard that the other day. Maybe they need a new approach like some good jobs. Usually, the more good jobs there are, the less crime there is.

Baltimore on pace to cross 300 homicides

BALTIMORE —The past month's violence has put Baltimore on pace to once again cross 300 homicides in a single year.

The pace of the city's homicides is not new to the city. Between 1990 and 1999, the number surpassed 300 each year.

The city is actually ahead of that pace this year. In 1999, the city recorded 305 homicides. The 258th homicide that year happened on Nov. 16. This year, the 258th homicide happened Monday night, which is five weeks faster than the 1999 pace.

The mayor and interim police commissioner held one of their public safety meetings Monday night, this one in west Baltimore. The mayor cited a cycle of retaliation killings, saying they have been surging in recent months. She acknowledged the problem has bedeviled many mayors before her.

"We have a violence problem. We have had one for decades, and it is going to take us, as a community, coming together every day in relentless pursuit of safety and a stronger community to get to a point where we are not going to have these incidents," Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said.

The 11 News I-Team's records show the city is almost on pace this year to match the worst year on record, 1993, when 353 homicides were recorded.

Exactly. Strict Gun Laws means only the criminals have guns, everyone else is an unarmed sitting duck and the criminals know they'll be the only one in the room with a gun which makes it a SAFE ZONE FOR KILLERS.
