    Since WND first reported that residents in the state of Louisiana were petitioning to secede from the U.S., residents in 19 more states have filed requests with the White House to peaceably break from the union.

    Furthermore, the Louisiana petition has topped 14,000 signatures, more than halfway to the threshold needed after which the White House has pledged to respond.

    And for Texas, one of the new states to join the fray, the signature count now tops 20,000.

    The White House’s We the People website explains that once a petition reaches 25,000 signatures, it will be placed on a queue for response from the administration. The website also maintains a page for previous petitions that have received a White House response.

    Joining Louisiana now are Arkansas, South Carolina, Georgia, Missouri, Tennessee, Michigan, New York, Colorado, Oregon, New Jersey, North Dakota, Montana, Indiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, Florida, North Carolina, Alabama and Texas.

    The Louisiana petition, which has served as a pattern for many of the new states, reads as follows: “We petition the Obama administration to: Peacefully grant the State of Louisiana to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government.”

    It continues, “As the Founding Fathers of the United States of America made clear in the Declaration of Independence in 1776: ‘When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.’”

    The petition concludes with a further quote from the Declaration of Independence: “‘Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and institute new Government.’”

    Residents of other states, however, have chosen different wording.

    The Texas petition explains itself this way: “The U.S. continues to suffer economic difficulties stemming from the federal government’s neglect to reform domestic and foreign spending. The citizens of the U.S. suffer from blatant abuses of their rights such as the NDAA, the TSA, etc. Given that the state of Texas maintains a balanced budget and is the 15th largest economy in the world, it is practically feasible for Texas to withdraw from the union, and to do so would protect it’s citizens’ standard of living and re-secure their rights and liberties in accordance with the original ideas and beliefs of our Founding Fathers, which are no longer being reflected by the federal government.”

    A petitioner from Tillamook, Ore., identified by the site as Kristopher W, worded his state’s petition this way: “Allow Oregon to vote on and leave the union peacefully and remain an ally to the nation.”

    He continues, “With the federal government increasing it’s size much larger than our Founding Father’s intended, and it’s abuse of power trumping over the rights of state constitutions, and the forcing of unconstitutional laws over it’s own citizens, the people of Oregon would like the chance to vote on leaving the Union immediately. The federal government has imposed policies on Oregon that are not in Oregon’s best interests, and we as citizens would respectively and peaceably separate ourselves from a tyrannical government who cares nothing about creating a sustainable future for our children. At any time that the citizens of Oregon [should feel] the federal government was no longer imposing on the Constitution, we could re-vote to again join the union under a new agreement.”

    As WND reported, the first of the petitions was filed the day after the 2012 election by Michael E. (full last name not provided) of Slidell, La.

    The White House created the “We the People” petition site ostensibly as a way of giving all Americans “a way to engage their government on the issues that matter to them.”

    “The right to petition your government is guaranteed by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution,” the page reads. “We the People provides a new way to petition the Obama Administration to take action on a range of important issues facing our country. We created We the People because we want to hear from you. If a petition gets enough support, White House staff will review it, ensure it’s sent to the appropriate policy experts, and issue an official response.”

    The page also explains, “You have just 30 days to get 25,000 signatures in order to get a response from the White House.”

    Once the White House does draft a response, it has pledged to send it via email to everyone who has signed the petition (registration on the site with a valid email address is required to sign petitions).

    Less than a week after President Obama’s reelection, an online petition calling for Texas to secede from the Union has gained enough signatures to prompt a response from the White House.

    The petition is posted on “We the People,” the White House’s website for petitions. The White House has pledged to provide a formal response to all petitions that receive more than 25,000 signatures within 30 days.

    The Texas secession petition was posted on Nov. 9 and already has more than 41,000 signatures.

    People have posted similar petitions for dozens of other states to secede, but the Texas petition was the first to cross the threshold. Republican Mitt Romney won Texas with 57 percent of the vote.

    The petition does not explicitly cite President Obama’s reelection as a reason to secede, but claims the nation continues to suffer because of the “federal government’s neglect to reform domestic and foreign spending.”

    The petition claims that American citizens are suffering “blatant abuses of their rights,” pointing to the Transportation Security Administration and the National Defense Authorization Act, which allows for indefinite detention of terror suspects.

    The petition cites Texas’s large economy and claims that it would be “practically feasible” for the state to secede.

    The writers argue that leaving the United States would protect Texans “standard of living and re-secure their rights and liberties in accordance with the original ideas and beliefs of our founding fathers which are no longer being reflected by the federal government.”

    People who fail to learn from their history are doomed to repeat it.........

    The nation has never been more divided during my lifetime. We are racially divided, divided by wealth, ideologically divided, divided by sexual preference, divided by religion, city dwellers against the rural population, etc...

    But In the post anger of last week's presidential election, thousands of Americans have signed petitions wanting permission for their states to peacefully secede from the United States. The petitions were filed on We the People, a government website.
    States with citizens filing include Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. Oddly, folks from Georgia have filed twice. Even stranger, several of the petitions come from states that went for President Barack Obama.

    The petitions are short and to the point. For example, a petition from the Volunteer State reads: "Peacefully grant the State of Tennessee to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government." Of all the petitions, Texas has the most signatures so far, with more than 23,000.

    Of course, this is mostly a symbolic gesture. The odds of the American government granting any state permission to go its own way are on par with winning the lottery while getting hit by a meteor while seeing Bigfoot while finding gluten-free pizza that tastes like the real thing.

    An article from WKRC quotes a University of Louisville political science professor who explained that these petitions aren't uncommon. Similar petitions were filed following the 2004 and 2008 elections. Still, should the petitions garner 25,000 signatures in a month, they will require an official response from the Obama administration.

    The right to petition your government is guaranteed by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. We the People provides a new way to petition the Obama Administration to take action on a range of important issues facing our country. We created We the People because we want to hear from you. If a petition gets enough support, White House staff will review it, ensure it's sent to the appropriate policy experts, and issue an official response.
    Not everybody who wants to secede is polite enough to write a petition. Peter Morrison, treasurer of the Hardin County (Texas) Republican Party, wrote a post-election newsletter in which he urges the Lone Star State to leave the Union.

    "We must contest every single inch of ground and delay the baby-murdering, tax-raising socialists at every opportunity. But in due time, the maggots will have eaten every morsel of flesh off of the rotting corpse of the Republic, and therein lies our opportunity...

    Why should Vermont and Texas live under the same government?

    Let each go her own way in peace, sign a free trade agreement among the states and we can avoid this gut-wrenching spectacle every four years."

    The remaining states for Obama’s tyrannical, despotic, evil regime to rule over are California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, and the District of Columbia - a total of 147 electoral votes this year.

    California is broke already and filled with Mexican and other immigrants.

    Connecticut is northern NY and home of the Jerry Springer and other wonderful, fitting shows.

    Delaware = Biden.

    Hawaii is mostly Asian.

    Illinois without Chicago may secede also.

    Maine = Maineiacs.

    Massachusetts is a lost Commonwealth of Dem Lib in-breds.

    Minnesota has been socialist for decades.

    New Mexico might as well be Mexico.

    Rhode Island is southern MA.

    Vermont is another socialist state, so also is Washington. DC full of government loons.

    So who cares, really, about any of them.

    In the last 2 generations, instead of rearing gentlemen and ladies, we've produced Feminazis and #$%$.

    Well, Texas, you have done it.
    As of 3:40 p.m. ET, more than 25,000 Texans have already signed the petition on The White House website to let Texas peacefully secede from United States of America and “create its own NEW government.”
    The petition, created on Nov. 9, argues for secession, stating:

    According to The White House, the petition must reach 25,000 signatures within 30 days in order to be considered.

    "Deport Everyone That Signed A Petition To Withdraw Their State From The United States Of America."

    As of November 13, it also needs 25,000 signatures for White House consideration.

    More information on the petitions to secede

    I have been reading about the petitions to seceded but I cannot find any answers to my questions. After the petition has the 25,000 signatures what happens next? And for instance Texas has the signatures but yet the governor is not for the petition. What would happen if the state did seceded from the Union? I want to know more about this.

    Texas has already exceeded the required number of signatories on the petition that requests secession.

    Presumably, these same States will take the more meaningful step of refusing to set up “exchanges” for implementing Obamacare.

    Although this is largely seen as symbolic, the filers in each state still have a month to gather 25,000 signatures to have their peaceful withdrawal from the U.S.A. considered by the president.
