    AB 1288, by Assemblymember Paul Fong (Cupertino) would prohibit the state, local governments, and special districts in California from requiring an employer to use the federal "E-Verify" system, even when that employer is a contractor to the government. It has passed the Assembly and could receive a floor vote in the State Senate this Thursday.

    The expansion of the federal E-Verify system is one of our most valuable tools in the effort to stop the deluge of illegal immigration. We must eliminate the jobs that attract and support illegal aliens.
