Alert! Oppose the Republican Dream Act Amnesty!

While Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) has discussed the development of his version of a scaled-down Dream Act, another Florida Republican has introduced one. Rep. David Rivera’s version, the STARS Act (Studying Towards Adjusted Residency Act), would also grant amnesty to illegal alien minors. HR 5869 would give "conditional" nonimmigrant status to illegal alien minors up to the age of 19. They must have entered the U.S. before the age of 16, lived in this country for five years, graduated high school, and been accepted to college. The five-year conditional legal status puts them on the path to citizenship. While there is little chance that this legislation will move prior to the November election, it is important to shoot down each new amnesty proposal. In the 2010 Senate vote, three Republicans were among the 55 votes for the Dream Act, leaving it just short of the necessary 60 votes.
