America ready for, and in desperate need of, next president

Bush Reign of Error Must End: US Needs Competent, Respected President

    By John W. Lillpop

America is ready for, and in desperate need of, it's 44th president.

And, quite frankly, the sooner the better.

George W. Bush is no longer respected, even within his own party. He is feared only because of the potential damage that continued allegiance to he and his policies could bring.

Because of his betrayal of conservative ideals, Bush is more despised in GOP circles than in Democrat ones. At least Democrats can thank Bush's incompetence and arrogance for their return to majority status.

Republicans, on the other hand, see those Bush flaws as visiting devastating harm on the party, with the potential to really cripple the GOP on November 4, 2008.

Over the past several weeks, both chambers of Congress have passed legislation that repudiate Bush's conduct of the war. Notwithstanding actions by the Congress, President Bush continues to insist that victory is possible in Iraq.

The obvious question: Possible for whom, sir?

    Do you mean the insurgents?

Or perhaps you were referring to Iran and Syria?

Or is Saddam Hussein plotting an improbable escape from the furnaces of Hades?

For years Bush fought off critics who said America needed more ground troops in Iraq because we were not winning.

Despite all evidence to the contrary, Bush preached "Stay the Course."

The result? America is entering the 5th year of a war 10,000 miles from our shores with no end in sight.

While the nation marches toward a constitutional crisis over Iraq, corruption and incompetence, fueled by ignorance and arrogance, continue to rot away at the White House itself.

Alberto Gonzales, Scooter Libby, and Karl Rove have faced challenges to their worthiness to serve in positions involving the public trust.

Libby is headed to jail and Gonzales may be headed to the unemployment lines, or worse, for his apparent disdain for the truth, and for allegedly being party to a cover up of a sex scandal involving young boys.

Other highlights of the Bush reign of error:

The FBI has been caught using the Patriot Act against innocent American citizens, something the Bush administration promised would never happen.

Bush tried to sell management of port security to a nation with known ties to terrorists, and is working to relinquish U.S. sovereignty in a hair-brained scheme to join the U.S. with Canada and Mexico.

Bush tried to shove a lottery queen, Harriet Miers, onto the United States Supreme Court.

Bush treated hurricane Katrina like a nuisance instead of a category five disaster.

All in all, the presidency of George W. Bush is an unmitigated disaster that needs to end sooner rather than later.

America is now paying the price for electing a man who is incapable of communicating well enough to pass a grade school speech class.

Bush is the poorest communicator on the public stage anywhere in the world right now, and must surely be the least effective communicator ever to occupy, or even enter, the White House.

Frankly, it is embarrassing to be an American when George W. Bush speaks. The man comes across as a clue less dimwit who compounds his problem with an arrogant smirk and haughty manner.

Most distressing of all, Bush has squandered an excellent opportunity to change the course of history and expunge liberalism from the body politic, perhaps forever.

But because of his incoherent mutterings, America has made no progress in reforming social security, spending and the national debt are completely out of control, and America has lost nearly all credibility in the world.

Worse of all, Bush is attempting to convert America into a third-world cesspool by countenancing the illegal invasion of this nation by peasants from Mexico.

This president's dismal performance has given America Nancy Pelosi as Speaker and a Democrat-majority Senate.

Only Bush could make Donald Rumsfield look like a complete failure, while simultaneously elevating Cindy Sheehan to the status of Nobel Peace prize candidate.

By the time Bush finishes his term, the nation will welcome Hillary Clinton and her legion of leftists with open arms.

Just imagine what it will be like to once again have a president who actually speaks fluent English. Even if the words he/she speaks are leftist nonsense, at least it will be delivered in an intelligent and comprehensible fashion.

If he were an honorable man who really cared about America, George W. Bush would announce that he is resigning the presidency, effective immediately.

Bush would then be free to take his "Mission Accomplished" banner and "Spanish for Dummies" book with him and head to Crawford, Texas.

Sad to say, but that is really Bush's only hope for any thing approaching a positive legacy.

John Lillpop is a recovering liberal.

The bad thing is that everything is true. Bush is destroying America and has destroyed the GOP.

To add to the devestation, we have a government too stupid to see the need or initiate impeachment hearings.

Be careful what you wish for. Remember who would take the office if Bush resigned. Maybe, could we just have Laura?

Well, up to this point I have not called for impeachment. HOWEVER, if Bush tries to pull some executive order action on this, then yes. Absolutely, beyond a shadow of a doubt, definitely.

Conservatives would vote for it, and even Dems would vote for it--more for issues related to Iraq, but their would be a strange alliance in congress to give Bush the boot.

As far as Cheney goes. No problem. He will see what happened to Bush and would stay away from any executive order on amnesty. However, because of this scenario, Shrub will probably stear clear of any executive order, and just pray that the congress resurrects this bill.
Serve Bush with his letter of resignation.

    See you at the signing!!

What I'm afraid of is that boosh will produce an executive amnesty order on his last day in office.

And yes - he needs to go. Immediately.
