Americans Have 'Moral Obligation' Toward Non-Citizens

    Anti-immigration stance costs GOP

Mounting hostility toward immigrants during the last four years pushed them away from Republicans and into Democrats’ waiting hands, according to a Mississippi Valley State University sociologist.

Chandra Persaud said their votes would have been enough to turn the election in Barack Obama’s favor if he had needed it.

Hispanics, who now make up 15 percent of the U.S. population according to the latest Census estimates, have traditionally voted Republican because of their Catholic backgrounds and Democrats’ support for abortion rights, Persaud said.

However, as the GOP became increasingly known for its anti-immigrant sentiment, she theorizes, the downward pressure on Latinos, Asians and other immigrant groups brought them together under a candidate they believed would embrace them.

What kind of drugs is this person on? The entire story is a fabrication.

Even if McCain had won the same % of the Latino vote that Bush did in 2004, it would not have made a bit of difference in the election results. The fact remains that McCain was and is very pro-amnesty, his position on this is very well known, and still it didn't help him at all. In fact, immigration matters were of minimal importance to most Latinos who voted. They voted on the economy like most others did.

Yes we do and I uphold my obligation by protecting them from smuggleres putting their lives at risk by stopping them and having the Border Patrol take charge of them.
Oh, I think we also have a tiny bit of obligation to protect our own country while we're at it.

First and foremost obligation is to American Citizens. First in safety, first in jobs, first in use of tax money, first on and on for the American Citizens Only.

Why are we to feel sorry for corporate America and the undocumented immigrants in our country?

We have an obligation to provide illegal aliens with justice! Justice means they pay the penalties under the current laws and return home.

I consider the statement by Larry Chappell, named as a "political scientist" at Miss. Valley State University:

"Good citizens in the United States should attempt to treat immigrants as informal citiizens."

frankly dangerous. MVSU is a publically-funded university, and students evidentally are being taught their professors' personal views, rather than the facts, on this subject. This seems part of a nationwide effort to "blur" the distinction between illegal aliens and legal immigrants so that eventually the U.S. public sees the two as one.
