Looks like HAPPY2BEME has started a real dialogue among ALIPAC members. We really need this. I would like to put in my own "2 cents worth" regarding the third party thing. I think there is a third alternative to the third party issue. How about this: conservatives work like hell to elect a true conservative in the Republican primary. If the RINO wins anyway then we stay home (very loudly sitting it out) even if it means the Democrat wins? Why? Because the RINO will be eliminated, and come the next election we get another try at getting a conservative Republican. We need to eliminate the RINOs from the GOP by whatever means it takes. Also, should we be given the choice between a RINO or a Democrat, we could try to run a third party spoiler to defeat the RINO and we could quite possibly win. We could also, where feasible, have a permanent third party that would play the role of a permanent "swing" voting block. Should the Republican Party nominate a conservative the third party could then also nominate that same Republican candidate

I believe this was done with the aid of William F. Buckley with a New York State "Conservative Party" years ago.

Many of the strategies I have suggested are not original; the RINOs have been using most of them (other than an independent third party) for years to beat down conservatives within the GOP; so, we owe them no loyalty; indeed, it past time for "pay back."

It does not have to be a choice between a third party or the GOP, nor a total destruction of the Republican Party (as tempting as that is) but with clever strategy and organized cooperation we may be able to have the best of both worlds.

There should be only one guiding strategy, do whatever it takes to defeat the RINOs.

Here is another issue. There is a danger that the people you elect to replace the RINOs hurt the party by moving it further to the right on SOCIAL policy. Which is why I advocate for a third party that will take a more libertarian approach to social issues that will appeal to young folks. Just look at Marco Rubio. Not only did he betray the Tea Party on immigration, but he is against gay marriage. This whole strategy of replacing the politicians you don't like with other ineffective politicians will not work. We must clean out the house and start over with ideals that the majority of this country will support and that requires a new platform, a new party.

There already is a Libertarian Party.

Living in California, which is completely ruled by the Democrat Party I am surprised that you are not going after the Dem's. Actually you would probably have better results. I know for a fact that there are an awful lot of old time Democrats that are totally against the new Democrat Party. This is not the Democrat Party that our parents belonged to. Too many registered Democrats simply no longer vote. They feel betrayed and do not trust the GOP.

Too many Americans feel they don't count. Between the Democrat Party the GOP, Activist and the Media the average American is not represented. Until Americans from both parties start screaming for truth and justice, nothing will change.

Going only after the GOP and not the Democrats seems to me to be foolish and playing into the hands of the Democrats. So, why don't you start a equal blog pointing out all the Dem's that are now Progressive or belong to Socialist and Communist Parties. There are a awful lot of corrupt Democrats here in California alone. You want a new third party - go after the Democrat Party and I along with millions would be right there with you.

Sorry "googler," most Americans are not libertarians. One thing is certain, you will never win elections by shoving aside "social conservatives." I tell you this as an old man who has seen politics for almost 60 years. It was Gerry Fallwell and his social conservative Christians who elected Ronald Reagan in 1980. I know this because I was there and involved.

I personally am more libertarian than anything else. Abortion is a minor issue with me as is gay marriage, but it is really big with Christians and we need to gain their support by respecting their priorities.

Just because they do not sit around all day smoking pot and watching porn does not mean they do not respect personal freedom or freedom of speech. I guarantee you they have far more tolerance for dissent than any Marxist college professor. Trust me because I am well familiar with both types.

I can say this with certainty, the most hardcore libertarian would find living in a country dominated by Christian social conservatives much freer and more pleasant than any society dominated by the hardcore leftists, or the Marxists controlled Democrat Party and Obama. The most hardcore libertarian would find he had more in common with a Baptists preacher in the Bible Belt than any Obama supporter. Trust me because I am a libertarian who lives in the Bible Belt.

Fine, but most Americans, especially young Americans, are becoming increasingly progress on social matters, and all this talk about defeating the RINOS in the GOP will become moot if you're electing politicians who are on the opposite spectrum on these issues. Which is why we a third party, the GOP is not the answer, it's corrupted and stale with no new ideas. We need a fresh start and at this point, 3 years out, we have the time to mobilize and build a party that can win the 2016 elections. We need people who can think outside the box and innovative tech people who can build an online presence on social media and whatnot to attract millions of young folks disillusioned with the current two party system. Look at reddit.com and how it has built a community of millions of users. Imagine we could build something similar where people could share ideas, push others to run for office, and have open discussions on where the party should go.

I agree with MonterreySherry and csarbww. The Democratic Party is the most morally corrupt party this country has ever seen and should be reclaimed from the socialist/communist party that co-opted it 15 years ago. csarbww makes an excellent point about social freedoms, if in fact they are that big of a hot button with the younger crowd. Christians may not like what a person is doing but they generally don't deliver a beat down for it as we have seen so many Progressives do when a they don't agree with something.
