    RE: property taxes. Lee County FL, quite a few years ago at the start of skyrocketing real estate prices, passed Save Our Homes legislation. It put a cap of 3% annually on owner-occupied homes, something that investors and 2nd home owners did not benefit from. When I sold that little cottage I owned at the peak of the boom, that parcel's taxes shot up from $1,800, what I paid, to $8,300 paid by the hot-shot investors.
