Bombshell: Benghazi Security Was Cut… by Over 70%

Bombshell: Benghazi Security Was Cut… by Over 70%

More and more details are coming to light about the Obama Administration’s heinous coverup of Benghazi. The members of the mainstream media are just hoping this thing blows over, because the evidence we’re continuing to discover of Obama and Hillary’s negligence is damning.

Four Americans are dead after what an official Senate report called a “preventable” attack. Ambassador Stevens’s requests for more security were ignored, and the report places the blame on the State Department for failing to ignore the requests.

The media, desperate to cover for Obama and Hillary, has come out and actually blamed Ambassador Stevens for the attack. Greg Hicks, who was Stevens’s second in command at Benghazi, has come out in an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal to defend the ambassador “since Chris cannot speak”. He confirms that Washington actually cut security at Benghazi by 70% shortly before the attack.

    TheBlaze writes:

“Chris Stevens was not responsible for the reduction in security personnel,” Gregory Hicks, the former deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli, wrote in a Wall Street Journal op-ed Thursday. “His requests for additional security were denied or ignored. Officials at the State and Defense Departments in Washington made the decisions that resulted in reduced security.” [...]

While Republicans have said that should extend to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, some media commentators have clung to a portion of the report that states Stevens declined an offer from then-Africa Commander Gen. Carter Ham for increased security.
“Since Chris cannot speak, I want to explain the reasons and timing for his responses to Gen. Ham,” Hicks wrote, explaining that much of the matter revolved around when to shift command of U.S. Special Forces from the State Department – where soldiers had diplomatic immunity – to the Defense Department – where they would not.

“Chris had requested on July 9 by cable that Washington provide a minimum of 13 American security professionals for Libya over and above the diplomatic security complement of eight assigned to Tripoli and Benghazi,” Hicks wrote. “On July 11, the Defense Department, apparently in response to Chris’s request, offered to extend the special forces mission to protect the U.S. Embassy.”

“However, on July 13, State Department Undersecretary Patrick Kennedy refused the Defense Department offer and thus Chris’s July 9 request. His rationale was that Libyan guards would be hired to take over this responsibility,” Hicks continued.

Diplomatic immunity was a serious consideration, Hicks explained in the op-ed.

“[Stevens] explained to Rear Adm. Charles J. Leidig that if a member of the special forces team used weapons to protect U.S. facilities, personnel or themselves, he would be subject to Libyan law,” Hicks wrote. “The law would be administered by judges appointed to the bench by Moammar Gadhafi or, worse, tribal judges.”

Hicks went on to say that the media’s interpretation of the events leading up to the attack are “strange.” He said, “my recollection of events is that after the August 6 incident, Gen. Ham wanted to withdraw the entire special forces team from Tripoli until they had Libyan government approval or their new mission had diplomatic immunity necessary to perform their mission safely.”

According to Hicks, Chris Stevens “convinced Gen. Ham to leave six members of the team in Tripoli.”

He continued, “When I arrived in Tripoli on July 31, we had over thirty security personnel, from the State Department and the US military, assigned to protect the diplomatic mission to Libya.” However, on September 11, the day of the attack, there were only nine security agents remaining.
Of the nine security agents remaining in Benghazi, three of them were confirmed members of an Al-Qaeda affiliate called the 17th February brigade, and had actually attacked Benghazi before. That’s right, the Libyan “security” forces who Hillary hired to protect the embassy are confirmed terrorists. Of course, when the attack happened, these three individuals refused to protect the embassy with deadly force, they just said they preferred “more diplomatic” solutions. Right.

This needs to go viral. People need to know the truth about what happened in Benghazi. Hillary shouldn’t be president, she teshould be prosecuted. The media’s coverup of this scandal to keep her presidential hopes alive is disgusting. Fight back by spreading the word about the administration’s gross negligence in Benghazi by sharing this article on Facebook and Twitter.

    Election of 2008[edit]

During the U.S. Presidential election, 2008 Patrick F. Kennedy ordered State Department employees in Europe be barred from attending Sen. Barack Obama's speech in Berlin on July 24, 2008 to ensure they displayed political neutrality. Kennedy labeled Obama's visit as a partisan political activity and he forbade employees from attending.[2]

Berlin Rally Is Off-Limits for Embassy Workers

    By Karen DeYoung

    Washington Post Staff Writer
    Thursday, July 24, 2008

The U.S. Embassy in Berlin has instructed Foreign Service personnel stationed there not to attend Sen. Barack Obama's public rally today, which the State Department this week labeled a "partisan political activity" prohibited under its regulations for those serving overseas.
Government employees serving in the United States are permitted to attend such events under the Hatch Act, which bars other partisan activity, such as contributing money or working in behalf of a candidate.
But "we always maintain that no U.S. government Foreign Service person overseas should be seen to be advocating one side or the other," State Department Undersecretary for Management Patrick Kennedy said, adding that "it has nothing to do with who" the candidate is.

"When a German sees you there, they're not going to think, 'Oh, he or she is on their off time.' It's 'Oh, they are a Democrat, a Republican, an independent,' God knows what," Kennedy said in an interview.

The American Foreign Service Association, the union of the diplomatic corps, objected to the ruling, calling it an "unnecessarily narrow interpretation" of the Foreign Affairs Manual. "The fact that you are working for the U.S. government overseas should not preclude political activity that you could engage in in the United States," one retired senior Foreign Service officer said.

Obama, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, is currently traveling overseas, stopping in recent days in Iraq and Afghanistan as part of an official bipartisan congressional delegation. But other stops, including today's appearance in Germany, have been organized and funded by the Obama campaign. He is expected to draw a massive crowd at the Berlin rally.

AFSA representatives met with Kennedy and State Department legal representatives Tuesday after two unnamed embassy employees complained to the union that the prohibition -- in an internal statement issued after some stationed there had asked about attending the rally -- violated their civil rights.

Kennedy cited section 4123.3 of the third volume of the lengthy manual of personnel regulations for the Foreign Service, which says: "A U.S. citizen employee, spouse, or family member shall not engage in partisan political activities abroad."

In the interview, Kennedy described the regulation as "a standing policy," although he acknowledged that "I don't believe we've ever had to interpret this before. None of us thinking about this could come up with a precedent" for the Obama campaign rally.

He said that despite the manual's prohibition on "spouses and family members," the departmental interpretation was that only Foreign Service members were barred from attending the event.

In a letter yesterday to embassy employees in Berlin, the AFSA said that the ruling could be contested through a formal grievance procedure but that "we have no way to compel the Dept. to change the policy over the next 18 hours between now and the Obama speech."

    Belgian Ambassador Investigation[edit]

On June 10, 2013, CBS News reported that a memo from an official in the State Department inspector general’s office alleged that the then-current ambassador to Belgium, Howard Gutman, was ditching his security detail to engage prostitutes and to allegedly solicit sex with children, and further alleged that Patrick F. Kennedy had killed the original investigation in order to protect Ambassador Gutman and maybe others.[4] On June 11, 2013, White House Press Secretary Jay Carneyconfirmed that the allegation regarding Kennedy was under active investigation by an independent inspector general.[5][6][7]On June 21, 2013, the White House announced Denise Bauer as the new nominee to be the next U.S. ambassador to Belgium.

Hillary Clinton Dodges Question About Covert Arms Shipments From Benghazi

Geoffrey Ingersoll and Michael Kelley Jan. 23, 2013, 1:32 PM

    VIDEO AT SOURCE LINK

We've covered the possibility that the CIA Annex in Benghazi was conducting covert operations aimed at arming Syrian rebels with heavy weapons (SA-7 missiles to counter Assad's air campaign).

At Hillary Clinton's Benghazi hearing today, Rand Paul broke ground by being the first politician to ask Clinton directly if she knew anything about these operations; in particular, about a ship containing 400 tons of SA-7 missiles arriving in Turkey, and if and if America had anything to do with it.

Clinton sidestepped the question: "You're asking the wrong agency, I don't know anything about that."

Which is odd since U.S. officials told The Wall Street Journal in November that "the U.S. effort in Benghazi was at its heart a CIA operation" and that most of the personnel at the consulate were providing "diplomatic cover" for the CIA Annex.
