Border Patrol agents apprehended a record-setting 1,659,206 migrants who illegally crossed the border from Mexico during the recently ended fiscal year, according to the Southwest Border Land Encounters report released on October 22, 2021 by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials.
According to a report released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials, Border Patrol agents apprehended roughly 1.66 million migrants on the southern border with Mexico in Fiscal Year 2021.

Bob Price of Breitbart News observed that “approximately 1.3 million of the total apprehensions occurred following changes in immigration and border security policies by the Biden Administration in January.”
The Washington Post reviewed a CBP report indicating that the number of migrants apprehended by Border Patrol agents has surged over the course of the past year. For perspective, these recent figures broke the prior record of 1.64 million migrant apprehensions that was set in Fiscal Year 2000.

Price added, “Breitbart Texas first reported a CBP source indicating the combined apprehension of 1.96 million migrants by Border Patrol agents and Customs and Border Protection officers.”
The number of migrants encountered was also striking. Of the roughly 1.96 million migrant encounters, over 1.66 million were caught by Border Patrol agents stationed at coastal, northern, and southern borders — a Border Patrol record. This number shows a 310% increase over 2020’s 405,000 apprehended migrants.

Single adult migrants comprised over 1.3 million of the total encounters. This is a more than twofold increase from 2020, when there were 537,000 single adult migrants apprehended.
Of the aforementioned apprehended migrants, 616,000 hailed from Mexico and roughly 315,000 came from El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras.
As the second-largest group of migrants encountered, family units saw a significant increase in encounters over the past year. Border patrol’s encounters of 484,000 migrants in family units represented a 545% increase. Over 275,000 of the migrants originated from Northern Triangle nations.
Encounters with Unaccompanied Minors surged by over 333%. CBP agents encountered over 148,000 unaccompanied minors. In 2020, there were 34,000 encounters with unaccompanied minors. Of those unaccompanied minors encountered by border patrol officials, over 114,000 hailed from Northern Triangle countries.
According to The Washington Post, the Rio Grande Valley Sector is still the southwest border sector that receives the most traffic with over 500,000 apprehensions. Del Rio Sector’s had the second-highest, with 259,000.
The border is collapsing and the Biden administration is doing everything possible to downplay it. There’s a clear Democratic Party incentive to keep it that way, based on migrant voter patterns. Populist conservatives should not let open borders Democrats get away with this and campaign firmly on immigration restriction in the 2022 midterms. Taking back the House, will at least throw a major wrench in the Democrats’ plan to pass amnesty.Border Patrol Confirms Record-Breaking Levels of Migrant Apprehensions - Big League Politics
