Border security will soon be a moot point

Border security will soon be a moot point in negotiating for immigration reform

This is a very interesting and well presented opinion from LatinaLista. As you will see, however, when reading this article the author is more sympathetic to the foreign immigrants than to the citizens of our country. For years we have been writing that there is a very good chance that Mexico would become a failed state. Day after day that opinion becomes more probable as does the prospect of thousands of Mexican nationals seeking asylum in our country. Contrary to the author’s opinion, we believe that the growing crisis in Mexico should be seen by our legislators as a warning to make our border MORE secure, not less. Gary

LatinaLista.net — Before President Obama left on vacation, he reassured Latino leaders that he had not given up on getting the DREAM Act passed or tackling immigration reform. Yet, some members of his own party are parroting GOP rhetoric in saying that until the border is secure there can be no address of either issue.

The thinking among these politicians, who live over 1,700 miles away from the US-Mexico border (that’s from Juarez to DC), is that it will take more border enforcement to eradicate illegal entries from Mexico.

Unfortunately, it seems these politicians have been so focused on listening to the nativists and racists among us, who know too well that no border of a free country ever reaches one hundred percent security, that they are missing the shift currently happening with Mexican immigrants and which will make the argument of a secure border a moot point in negotiating immigration reform or DREAM Act.

Over the last few months, there have been more asylum seekers from Mexico trying to escape the violence of the drug cartels. The number is steadily increasing that now even immigration restrictionist organizations in the United States are taking notice that asylum seekers pose a bigger threat to their narrow vision of the country than anyone trying to scale a wall in the dark.

It used to be Mexican journalists were the ones asking for U.S. asylum. After all, Mexico is ranked fourth by the Committee to Protect Journalists as one of the most dangerous countries to be a journalist. Honduras is third.

But because the cartel violence has become so rampant and indiscriminate and people from college students and housewives to activists and professionals are being gunned down, no one feels safe. They don’t have confidence in their government to protect them and so it’s no surprise that they look towards the one country nearby that hasn’t succumbed to rampant corruption or cartel takeovers.

The latest people to flee Mexico asking for asylum is the family of Marisela Escobedo.

Chihuahua state police escorted relatives of Marisela Escobedo, 52, to an international bridge on Dec. 18, two days after a gunman shot her in the head as she protested the judicial system that freed the confessed killer of her daughter RubÃ* Frayre Escobedo. …The members are the brother, granddaughter and two sons of Escobedo, said the spokesman for Chihuahua attorney general, Carlos González. He did not release their names.

Here's a win-win solution. Dreamers claim they want to join the military here. Well, if they are mexican citizens, I say deport them so they can join their own military and take on the cartels. Let them put their education to good use to reform their own country. Do the same for illegals from all countries. Send them home to reform their own countries. It's the least they can do with the education they received paid for by US taxpayers - under duress.

Their families should be deported with them, after all there are plenty of jobs in mexico...look at all the American manufacturers who open plants in mexico. Very high unemployment and cost of living in the US. Low unemployment and cost of living in mexico and other countries.

A win-win situation for all. I am done paying for ungrateful, whining, greedy racists in my own country!

Everybody in the third world will be here if we really grant blanket asylum to people in a failed or dangeous state. I don't think that's the law yet.

The border can never be secured 100%. However I'm highly confident it can secured 98-99% for the southern border. Its not gonna be with border agents with rubber bullets and bean bag rounds also.

I do agree though they all should be sent back with their families and let them fight for their own country. I'd even support having some US forces there to assist as long as they don't get tied down with "rebuilding" ideas or "play nice" policies. Either its a war or a game of patti cake and we have no interest in the latter. But in truth the vast majority have no interest in the US military even. Thats why they have 2 years of college (no degree required) that would of course be paid by tax payers and not them.

Its also totally ridiculous to pass any sort of "dream act" before the borders are secured and even more so a "dream act" without very strict guidelines that would stick to the promises made. However why should we even pass any form of amnesty for illegals? They have destroyed many portions of our society and even if we have them all out tomarrow will take years to rebuild and fix problems they have caused.

What I also find ridiculous is claims that the whole illegal issue is because America is a "drug addict nation" so its our fault there country is destroyed. But look at demographics and yes there are drug users in the US but today the majority of the problems related are through the illegal alien crowd and their children, along with the welfare society which they played a major problem in its continued downfall.

Lastly why again are any group that takes a stand against illegals or suggests we need to lower the amount of legal immigration always racists or white racists. Even if we elimited illegal immigrants all together and went back to traditional levels of legal immigration the US would still be the country that accepts the most immigrants yearly and also offers the largest amount of asylum. Of course when we want to protect ourselves we are always some sort of racist group.

Nobody is advocating for open borders, but what is being advocated is common sense and compassion. Common sense that should tell anyone that enabling 12 million people to live in the shadows of society is not smart given these times.

And compassion to understand that providing refuge to people escaping from a situation rife with impunity is just a basic tenet of neighbor helping neighbor.
Interesting. Now it seems that the OBL is advocating for common sense and compassion combined.

With just a little common sense one has to be compassionate.

I stopped reading and posting in that piece of trash blog "Latina Lista" long ago. She is nothing but an ethnocentric, racist. She stopped allowing any anti's to post in there because she couldn't handle the truth. You will find the same in a few other pro-illegal sites also. First they delete your posts and then they ban you no matter how civil you are. Shows how weak their arguments are that they can't handle a pro-laws, pro-America point of view. Their loyalty to their ethnic kind trumps even their loyalty to this country. They make me sicker than the illegals themselves. Let's keep the illegals and deport these traitors (not really, but sometimes that is how much these citizen advocates disgust me).

he he he, yes it would be interesting to see how long they live doing that kind of advocacy in the nations of people they are defending - like Mexico for example where the profession of journalism can kill you and quickly. My point bolsters the concept of refugee status but just as they are forcing us to the point where we must stand and fight them, they need to go home and stand and fight for the nation they want.

Our economy is in such bad shage that we're caught up in a zero-sum game. It's jobs and benefits for Americans, or jobs and benefits for illegals and "refugees".
