DETROIT, MI - Boston Mayor Thomas Menino recently delivered some strong opinions on Detroit and its problems with police response time during an interview with the New York Times.
Menino first said in an Aug. 30 interview that he's "love to go" to Detroit and seemed to give he reason based more on curiosity than some sort of major attraction he's dying to see.
An excerpt:
New York Times: What would you do in Detroit?
Menino: I’d blow up the place and start all over. No, seriously, when it takes a police officer 90 minutes to answer a call, there’s something wrong with the system. Forty percent of the streetlights are out, most of the buildings are boarded up. Why? Inaction, that’s the problem — leadership.
More on Menino's interview can be found on the New York Times website.
