BREAKING: Legislation Introduced to Cut Off Welfare for Illegals

    August 1, 2014

Congress is scrambling to find a solution to the illegal immigration crisis we are facing on our southern border. Although there are an untold number of laws already on the books, the feds aren’t enforcing them all, creating the appearance that border security is a ‘joke’.
Texas has stepped up to secure their portion of the border on their own, surging local and state law enforcement to trouble spots, and mobilizing an additional 1,000 National Guard troops to the border to beef up security. Texas provides the example for how other states can defend the border by themselves.
There are some actual plans to solve the border crisis. Most of those plans include additional security measures, closing loopholes in various laws being exploited, increasing the number of deportations while decreasing time spent waiting for deportations, and cutting off foreign aid to the countries responsible for flooding our southern border.
Texas Congressman Steve Stockman has his own plan to solve the border crisis, and he just introduced it as a piece of legislation called the SECURITY (Safely Exacting Cautious Useful Rules for Immigration This Year) Act, according to his official House website.
Stockman’s plan focuses on completing the long-overdue fence, deploying additional law enforcement and security measures, allowing for the detainment of gang members and preventing them from seeking asylum or refugee status, financially punishing countries that refuse to help us stop the flood of illegal immigration, and expressly prohibiting any type of welfare benefits for newly amnestied illegals.
“Border Patrol agents tell us this invasion started when Obama announced DREAM Act amnesty for young illegals. Border Patrol agents also tell us since then hordes of illegals cross the border, walk right up to Border Patrol and say ‘We are here because Obama will take care of us,’” said Stockman. “Obama can end this crisis right now by dropping his amnesty scheme. If he won’t, this bill does it for him.”
“Gang members with face tattoos openly tell Border Patrol agents about the murders they committed in Central America. Immigration laws prevent agents from detaining these bragging killers,” said Stockman. “Under Obama’s amnesty scheme these killer gang members are set loose in the United States to later get amnesty. Obama doesn’t care. The SECURITY Act puts a stop to that by detaining gang members and stopping Obama’s plan to give them amnesty.”
“These illegals say they are coming because Obama promised them welfare benefits. The invasion stops once Congress passes this bill, which cuts off welfare benefits to these illegals even if Obama issues an Executive Order giving them amnesty,” said Stockman.
Stockman’s plan would set standards for security, and hold the DHS Secretary responsible for meeting these standards, by cutting the DHS budget for failures to meet said standards. The plan would add more agency reporting requirements and oversight by Congress. It would also close off some of the financial incentives for illegal immigration by prohibiting welfare benefits for anyone receiving amnesty, and reducing foreign aid to countries that are resistant to accepting their own people back after deportation.
No plan is perfect, but Stockman’s plan takes steps in the right direction, as far as border security is concerned. His legislation would be a good start while Congress continues their never-ending fight over comprehensive immigration reform.
Please share this on Facebook and Twitter if you think Stockman’s plan would be a good start towards securing the border.
