Bryan Stow deserved better. He was just a fan visiting Los Angeles, from the Bay Area, who came to see his beloved Giants play the local team. As he was exiting Dodger Stadium, he was attacked and left with a crushed skull. His offense? He had the audacity to wear the wrong colors, a Giants jersey, in a sports venue that has been increasingly occupied by some of the thugs and hood rats that have become such a large portion of the population in Los Angeles.

Right now, he's lying in a local hospital fighting for his life. The prognosis is not good.

Shortly after the incident, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and LAPD Chief Charlie Beck rushed in front of nearby microphones and members of the press, and vowed changes that would provide additional safety. They were lying.

The Police Chief, our Mayor, the members of the L.A. City Council, and dozens of other local office holders, have no intention of doing anything about the sanctuary city policies that have made L.A. overcrowded and more dangerous. Their track records in this area are dreadful. They have shown a much greater interest in lying about local conditions than actually enforcing the laws that would improve them.

Driving, immigration and employment laws are treated as optional for foreign nationals, by the people who run Los Angeles. During the past three decades, we have rolled out the welcome mat for the impoverished and marginally educated from south of the border. We've let them know that they won't be expected to play by the rules, and the result has been predictable. A lot of folks took Los Angeles up on its offer, set up house here, and had a whole bunch of children who graduate from public high schools in abysmally low numbers. Bottom line, huge sections of southern California have gotten ghetto and gangsta.

Bryan Stow deserved better. But then again, so did Jamiel Shaw. So did Tyler Lundin. So do the citizens in Los Angeles who would simply like to have decent local public schools to send their children. So do the dozens of L.A. commuters whose cars will be in collisions today, with vehicles operated by uninsured and unlicensed drivers.

Directly below are police sketches of the guys who nearly beat Mr. Stow to death. Law enforcement has been unable to apprehend these criminals. No one who knows L.A. should be surprised by this, of course, because as a result of what is allowed to go on here, they can blend into large local communities filled with people for whom ongoing illegal activity is a way of life.
