Having researched this very issue a number of years ago, the bottom line is, in easy to understand language, YES, our president can declare an emergency, giving particulars, and take necessary action to deal with the emergency stated. But, if after 60 days Congress does not legislate to the contrary, an extra 30 days is allowed the president to deal with said emergency, but he is required to consult with Congress in dealing with said emergency.


I have tried to put this in easy to understand language, and avoid the technicalities involved.


As to my own opinion, I believe President Trump ought to hold a “fireside chat” [FDR style] and lay out the emergency, expressing in detail the various threats and consequences of not securing our border adequately, elaborating on specifics which encourage illegal border crossings and remedies to discourage it, including addressing the abuse of asylum laws, chain migration, and an immigration system not merit based. He should then go on to state if Congress does not act swiftly to address these issues in a manner which actual promotes the General Welfare of the United States and HER citizens, he will declare a national emergency and begin to address the issue on his own.

I hope Trump takes a page from history and has an evening FDR style fireside chat concerning the ongoing invasion of our border, and the possibility he may be forced to use presidential powers to by-pass a do-nothing Congress.

Pres. Trump plans prime-time address, border visit as shutdown fight continues

The President tweeted he will “address the nation” Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET “on the Humanitarian and National Security crisis on our Southern border,” two days before he is scheduled to visit the border. Trump indicated to aides over the weekend that he was interested in delivering a prime-time address to call attention to the issue, but it was not immediately clear whether TV networks had agreed to clear airtime for a presidential address.

Now, according to the UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE EASTERN DISTRICT OF PENNSYLVANIA, in November of 2017, it cited recent numbers, and among the estimated 11.4 million unlawfully present non-citizens in the U.S., “half of that population is made up of visa overstayers, while the other half is comprised of individuals who have entered the United States without inspection.” __ LINK



The irrefutable fact is, we have a major illegal border crossing problem, and our Fifth Column actives, in our media and on Capitol Hill, want us to believe building a wall/barrier where the geographical terrain is not an obstacle to mass illegal border crossings is unnecessary because the vast majority of those unlawfully present in the United States are visa overstayers.



The truth is, illegal border crossings and visa overstays are the problem, and both need to be addressed.


NBC needs to stop its fake news about a wall/barrier not being necessary.
