As reported earlier this week, thousands of truckers and supporters have signed on to halt all commerce between Oct. 11 and 13 in response to an out-of-control federal government.

In subsequent days, a group of northern neighbors has announced a similar initiative. Just as the American event is set to include a trucker convoy to Washington, D.C., the Canadian group is planning to arrive en masse in Toronto.

Both strikes were initially announced on Facebook, and the “Truckers to Shut Down America” page has already garnered tens of thousands of ‘likes.’

The Canadian counterpart, “Canadian Truckers to Shut Down,” has received the support of thousands in the few days it has been active.

Organizers in the U.S. hope to deliver a message to Washington, D.C., by interrupting deliveries across the nation, converging on the nation’s capital, and enlisting the help of like-minded citizens.

Requesting Americans refuse to engage in any commerce during the three-day strike, the movement expects that a large participation rate will have a noticeable effect.

According to the administrators in charge of the Canadian page, participants hope to “show support to our American colleagues because what happens there will surely affect us.”

Similar rallies against the Obama regime have gone largely unnoticed by all but those who align with the cause. Hopefully, as two nations join forces for three days of protest, the ruling elite on both sides of the border will be forced to pay attention.

Truckers are quite literally the backbone of a free society, responsible for delivering goods and keeping all other businesses open. While a three-day slowdown in those deliveries might cause some initial headaches, the long-term benefits could be monumental.
