ACTION ALERT! Save the SAVE Act!

As you know, the bipartisan SAVE Act offers our nation an incredible opportunity to tackle our immigration crisis. The Secure America with Verification and Enforcement Act, HR 4088, by Representative Heath Shuler (D-NC) has over 130 co-sponsors.

Supporters are considering a discharge petition to compel Pelosi to allow a floor vote on the measure. The signatures of a House majority, 218, would force a floor vote. Opponents, led by Rep. Joe Baca (D-CA), Chair of the Hispanic Caucus, are seeking to derail it by attaching an amendment that would provide five-year amnesty visas to illegal aliens. An increased number of H-2B visas will likely be included to draw business support. By gutting the bill with this amendment, opponents will remove the impetus for a discharge petition and its mandated floor vote.
